I have been to Israel a number of times and always have taken my ‘main’ camera - the camera that I am most familiar with. I am going there in October and will take my z6 and a number of Z lenses. This camera is greT in low light which gives the the opportunity of shooting at sll times of the day. In my opinion unless you shoot birds you don’t need long focal lenghts. This trip I will take my recently ordered 70-180 and will definitely tske my 14-30. Have a great trip, safe and meaningful!

I just got back and you are in for a Blessing. I took my Fujifilm XT2 and one lens. The 18-55 2.8. It was perfect for me and I got some very good pics inside the churches etc. I also have a Fujifilm X100 F.
If you can find a used one buy it. I love mine.

When I visited Israel last year I took my D780 and a 24-120 lens. It was a great combination for the trip.

Thank you for this information!! So am I understanding that the camera can directly connect to my Lightroom account without a computer??? Because that would be soooo good!

Nikon Coolpix P1000 at 1416gm is hardly light and is actually as large as many DSLRs. I would suggest a Sony RX10 IV would cover most of your needs with much higher IQ than the tiny sensor Nikons

If the price is manageable, the RX10 IV is well regarded and its' 1" sensor will do much better in low light than the P1000. Of course, neither will be as good as your DSLR in low light.

If you want something smaller ('tho with less zoom range) check the Sony RX100 VII. It, too, has the 1" sensor.

Thank you!! All enlightening!
I do have an iPhone 14 pro which I thought would be good for lowlight closeups!
This camera will allow me to upload directly to my Lightroom account??? Because they would be remarkable!
What program would you recommend to increase the file size? I’ve never had to do that, but sounds very interesting!!

Thank you! Your Panasonic seems similar to the Sony mentioned a few times earlier. Sounds like a great camera.

Hi!
First post here!
I am visiting the Holy Land in July. I am thinking of getting a point and shoot. I presently have a Nikon Z7 for my landscape and inner church photography and D500 for my wildlife. But at 68, I’m thinking I would like to travel light and not worry about my gear.
Any suggestions on a point and shoot camera would be appreciated. I do shoot in raw and understand I need something that can handle low light situations. I am an enthusiast, but my images won’t need to be printed in large format. I am looking at the Coolpix p1000? But am open to other manufacturers. Used purchasing always works best for me.
I am so excited for the trip…heat and all!! Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Well I definitely think you will want to take the Nikon “Trinity” lenses, right?

after having some health issues and a requirement that I walk, I began leaving my Sony a7riii at home and bought a used Sony rx100 vi. The main difference between the vi and vii is animal eye focusing. It uses a 1" sensor. I have a Peak Design leash strap on it and just about carry it everywhere. I've used it for my grandkids soccer games, portraits of their team, landscape and bird shots. Here's a shot of an egret chasing a frog. Best of all you can get it used at mpb or another outlet with a 6 month guaranty under $1,000

...... as mentioned the RX100 VI or VII is a smaller/lighter option if you do not need over 200mm equiv focal length.

My all time favorite travel camera was the Sony HX99. But I have also traveled with the D500. The nice thing with the Sony is that it fits into a belt pouch so your always hands free, which is nice on a trip.
Travel right, travel lite.
PS. The Sony has a tilt up screen so you can take low angles, as in the image below. Also, I took it everywhere and it could shot in a matter of seconds once out of the belt pouch. The bride was a quick shot, and I had to zoom out to the max. on the Sony, 720 mm. The Sony has a wonderfully sharp Zeiss 24-720 mm lens. And I enlarged that bride in a boat to 16X20 without loss in sharpness.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

The Panasonic zs100 and zs 80, and the Sony HX99 - all previously recommended have many features and are "pretty good." ....But they all have small sensors, except the zs100 whose lens is relatively soft at long extension. I recommend the Sony RX100 vii as the best of the bunch. Maybe also look at the Canon G5X ii which has a shorter (120mm), but faster lens. However the Sony RX100 vii has a much better focusing then the Canon. I have all of these cameras, and if I were to pick one for a once in a lifetime trip, it would be the Sony RX100 vii - with lots of spare batteries for whichever one you pick as none of them are very good at battery preservation. I'd say the Olympus Stylus 1/1s might be a contender too as it has a 300mm f2.8 lens, but a bit smaller sensor - between the Panasonics zs80 and the HX99 (These two have the longest lenses, but the smallest sensors) and the RX100 vii, but takes good pictures. ALL of these cameras ar relatively small P&Ss. Yeah, I have the Olympus too. My top two= RX100 vii and Canon G5X ii. Enjoy your trip.

Hi Missy, traveling light is the way to go and makes your trip much more enjoyable. Since you're not taking your Z7 or D500 and want an all-in-one, then the Sony RX-10IV would be your best choice, optically. Long tele with superior optics to match.

It’s bigger than her Z7! She’s not gonna need a long zoom for that trip. If she goes the Sony route she’d be better served with an RX100. In that situation, I’d personally take the Z7 with either the 24-200 or 24-120.
