I was hoping we'd find some operators! That first one is splendid, but I like the mistiness of the second image.

That's me in the excavator.

Here are very different machines, one very old, the other not quite so old. The red and white flying machine, a 1946 Ercoupe at the right, is a plane I used to own. In this photo it's on display at an airshow.

Ron, thanks so much for hosting. This will be a very interesting challenge for sure. It's OK if you don't et to comment on all posts as I'm sure there will be many. Loved your start.

My machine/machinery challenge arises only from my having a few images of what I considered machines are, and the reflection that I had never seen a challenge on these terms. I am not an expert, or even an enthusiast, neither do I have a great collection of stunning machine images, but I know a lot of hoggers do.

Sorry - I clicked send before I was ready! Here are a couple of images suggestive of the range of technology which we might explore

Really good start, Ron. Masterful old and new machinery.
I have a couple of those kind as well...

You're a tease Pat - if the human body, then all living things. I don't think that's quite what I had in mind - but perhaps they qualify under that mantra of "natural biological macromolecules, such as molecular machines." Ever thought of yourself as a natural biological macromolecule - or rather as an assembly of such?

I love all your images, but in their present state, the images of the last have a hint of ghoulishness. I remember that as the son-in-law of a clogger, my grandpa had his own last and always custom-made shoes, but this looks like a rather more complex assembly - wish I could read that plate.

Enough of that! Let’s see what you clever photographers come up with.

I enjoyed your introduction to the challenge. 😊
I found a bunch that I’ve taken but here are a few you didn’t know existed…or why they would.
They were part of an exhibit at The Fairgrounds in St. Petersburg, FL. It’s an immersive art experience. 😆

Just remembered recently photographing these machines. The first two photos show the extraction and winding of silk thread from silkworm eggs after they're softened in water; the third shows a weaver at work. All were taken in Turkey last fall. As I recall from the rug merchant's spiel, a single thread taken from an egg can be a mile long.

Thank you for hosting this challenge, Kaskazi. I'm certain that the Hoggers will come through with many interesting photographs for viewing. I think I have several that fit the category, and a few that are borderline, which I might include as well, for consideration.

I spent many hours in one of these machines during my time in the USAF (inner workings, not visible)
