Oh, I loved my 1995 F-150 super cab Eddie Bauer edition!
Had it for 22 years, drove like a limo.

I had an 83 F150 short bed for my work truck. Sold it when it hit 350,000 working miles. It still ran and was sound when I sold it, but I had changed careers and no longer required it. Bought a little Mazda Miata and found out what tight, stiff suspension was like. The truck rode much smoother.

I can tell you why I went to a mirrorless. I wanted the auto focus on the subject's eye as well as the IBIS. While these can be available on a DSLR, neither mine (an EOS 80D), and I don't think your camera has them.

I thought it was death and taxes.

Just because it has live view doesn’t mean it is purpose-built for the many advantages mirrorless technology can offer. If you don’t need them, keep the D780. But if you do…

Each camera has a unique blend of features. There is no perfect camera, but there is one that can work for you. We have to be smart consumers and weigh dozens of factors, now.

But some cannot evaluate the features (or don't want to do so) themselves and rely on others to tell them what camera to get.

If you want to be a better photographer, there are two things you must do above all others: buy a mirrorless camera and use it.

Sheep and lemmings are often led astray…

I wonder where our educational system strayed away from teaching basic research skills in middle school?

SO sad isn't it...
Very little common sense anymore either,
as well as almost zero analytical abilities.
Cause and effect? What's that...

you dont need one if you dont know why you need one. you are doing fine with what you have. If you can afford to buy a $6,000 nikon, and you want it. Then buy it ,but you DONT need it .

Yup, things that are important to you.

But not necessarily me or others.
My DSLR is just fine.

I said use what you want and be happy. I am happier with my mirrorless gear than I was with my DSLRs.

Cheers and best to you.

No one buys a sports car that rides like a truck, if they want the handling of a sports car. FYI, I have owned seven Mazda sports cars and never wished they rode like a truck. LOL

Cheers and best to you.

My question is....."Why should I pour all that money into mirrorless when I can shoot in live view with any of my three Nikon DSLRs? Just this last week I had my D780 with and purposely took images using live view. At the same time have been doing some video testing with it as well.

BTW there are many mirrorless choices now that fit all budgets. I traded in my DSLR Nikon and DSLR Canon gear and it didn't cost that much to move over to mirrorless. And it was the right move for this pro.

Cheers and best to you.

Actually, I have a Pentax “APS-C” KP that cost me $700, had cost about $1000 before it went on sale. I believe the most expensive Pentax may be the “APS-C” K-3iii, at least until the “FF” K-1iii comes out.

I think the question is really why aren't you all be like me. When they asked others what to get they just want others to say get the one they want. They just want approval of the crowd.

The reason I don't ask other what to get because I do not have common sense and thus I don't think others would think like I do.
