Is it just me or does the idea of "Royalty" rub others wrong as well? How is it that in today's world of political correctness and e******y for all can someone's birthright provide such wealth, privilege, respect, and loyalty? These folks are just human and the need for royalty has long since expired in today's world. It simply amazes me that they make such a fuss over all this and wonder why the whole concept hasn't been completely rejected by the common folk at least in a so called democratic society. Anyway, it's much ado about nothing in my opinion and I actually find it to be rather offensive as well. I would be interested in other's opinions about it here.

Offended? Seriously, you’re offended??? It’s the UK and most, if not all, is irrelevant so why worry yourself silly over their customs and traditions…oops, history, customs and traditions are being wiped here in America on a daily basis. It was a great party, lots of Pomp, let them enjoy it…and as a side note, it doesn’t affect you one bit

I'm not offended in the slightest.

They are simply keeping a tradition going. That's fine with me.

Just because things are "out dated", does that mean we should eliminate them?

Why are you so concerned with another country's decision to maintain certain traditions?
Should they change to accommodate YOUR views?????

I kinda see his point, the UK does expend a LOT of money on the royals, and remember, that they don't have the empire they used too to support so much waste. lets face it, most of us have more empathy for the commoners in the UK than the royals, well, at least we should anyway.

I agree with you. Most likely for different reasons but I still agree.

For comparison look at the outrageous amounts of money spent on American political campaigns. And how do poor politicians become millionaires after one term in office? Just another custom of the culture?

I agree with everyone, although I don't think the Bison was all that upset about it. He said he found it "rather" offensive. I think aristocracy's are very offensive, as are autocracy's and dictatorships. The US h**ed the aristocracy so much they fought a revolutionary war over just that.

Today, the Royalty has zero power and is simply pomp and ceremony. A display for show, basically just entertainment, far as I can tell.

Finding something "rather offensive" doesn't mean one is "offended" or upset by it??????
If it doesn't bother someone, why would they make that comment???
Then what does "rather offensive" mean?

I don't find it offensive. I just find it stupid and useless.

Maybe because you didn't grow up with it?

Not everyone appreciates other culture's traditions...
Americans can wipe out traditions in a heartbeat.
Other cultures, not so much.

What traditions did you grow up with that you no longer "subscribe to"?

With all the problems going on in the world and especially in America today, all the negativity, the BILLIONS spent on political campaigns, the h**e within America's political system, people are offended by the customs and traditions of another country having a party and a good time! Just Amazing.
