Great set the adult feels like she/he is looking right at you. Caught her/him just perfect. The babies make this post even better it is rare to capture them you did a great job. You had a worthwhile day

They are cute little fellows but have been threatened by the weather and development in their nesting areas. My wife just recently returned from one of her many trips to Florida to photograph wildlife and was disappointed in that many areas that she had previously photographed the owls now had buildings and parking lots on them.

The past 15 years have been devoted by our state government to supporting rampant development there is no regard for willife beyond lipservice. Treasure your photos for those opportunities grow fewer daily.

Johnny and I arose early to drive 200 miles and arrive on location by 0800. The Ft Lauderdale area had serious flooding at critical nesting time this year and I'm afraid most of the pairs lost their eggs or chicks. We only found one burrow with owlets and and didn't discovered that until high noon on a cloudless day -- so deep shadows and reflections plagued our photography in the open fields.

These small owls stand about nine inches tall. With them it's all about the eyes. They have the most incredible large yellow eyes and large black pupils. Please enjoy the downloads.

Their eyes are really very expressive, Hereford! ...And this flooding is sad terrible news...
