I have made several purchases from MPB and have sold them an item. I would have said that they were great to deal with until today. I purchased a Nikon P1000 from them but after receiving it, I decided it was way too big for my liking. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and I emailed them to ask for how to return for a refund. They told me that it has been more than 14 days since I received it…..it has not been! ….so they won’t refund it but I could sell it back to them

Ah no!!! So now I’m stuck with this camera and I will certainly never deal with MPB again.

Just beware

You should have proof of delivery, which should solve the issue. As mentioned above, phone calls usually euro better.
Of course if you were just looking to vent your frustration, you came to the right place.

If you have the proof of being within the 14 day return timetable & they were looking at the right invoice on their end, I’m surprised at their response. If it were me, I would call them and ask for the manager. I always find it more productive to talk to someone rather than by email.

Can you tell us the following things.
1. When did you order it?
2. When did you receive it?
3. When did you emailed and ask for return and refund?
4. When did they emailed you and said the 14 days has passed?

OK OP thanks very much. I guess I am not worth your answer.

Even if your allegation against MPB is true, if I stopped dealing with every retailer, merchant or other service provider who has messed up at some point I'd be wearing home spun, growing all my vegetables, raising and butchering livestock, generating my own electricity, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So help yourself.

So true, LOL

I’m not in any mood to deal with them after having made several purchases from them.

I don't see the logic in that statement?

I am inclined to believe that many people misunderstand a great many conversations. I too have made many statement only to have others tell me I am wrong or that they didn’t understand what I have said.

Yet another in a long line of dirty laundry posts here at UHH. You did not get your way, and now your going to cry about it. Put on your big boy pants, grow up, except you made a mistake and move on. Don't make the same mistake twice.
PS. Please do not buy anything I list here for sale.

I agree. Had a similar issue with them. Brought my Nikon over to their NY Office to show them for a sale.
They quoted me a price. I told them I would be back shortly that day as I had an appt. to keep.
I went back, they refused to honor the price and quoted me a lower price

I’ve had nothing but good buying and selling experiences with MPB. But, I can see where your recent experience would lead you to write them off. Sorry it happened to you.

I’ve dealt with MPB many times and they are right up there with KEH B&H and others on used gear. I would never bad mouth any company for me just not liking the fit for me. If I didn’t like the answer I got from the tech I would ask to talk to the manager. Most times the problem would be resolved.

They possibly assumed - perhaps not completely unreasonably - that you were going for a price at another shop, and they didn't want to play a negotiating game although this itself is of course a basic negotiating tactic.

Did you ask how long their offer was good for? They should have been very explicit.

It would be simply good business practice to state the validity of an offer, which might be anything along the lines of "my price is $X, right here, right now, valid only until we part company" or perhaps "my price is $X valid for 7 days (or whatever)".

When I've sold gear to them via mail order, it's always been an offer of $$ valid for so many days.

I think there is more to this story than what you're telling us so I think I will not obey your instruction.
