You have an International Cricket team, mainly if not exclusively made up of immigrants from the Indian
sub-continent.

I have friends living there.
I don’t remember being taught that there was apparently considerable home front dissatisfaction with the crown during the American Revolution. That village had some cajoles!
Stan
Hatred and disgust with the Crown was essentailly regional. In the agrarian South, the dislike of the Crown was moderate compared to the intense feelings against the Crown in the Northern colonies which were essential mercantile and manufacturing, the industries most negatively affected by Crown rulings. Violent outbreaks took place in the North in protests against the Crown, witness the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Actually, the split between Americans over the Crown issue was a lot closer than most people realize. A very large percentage of Americans remained loyal
to the Crown at all times.

https://www.philacricket.com/I've just taken up Pickleball (Cricket is for watching and supping) so I laughingly looked at membership.
I think it's considerably more than the Court fees at the local Sports Centre.

New York, USA- Named after a walled town in GB to aggravate the crown.
[quThote=John N]I've just taken up Pickleball....
The reference to Pickleball tickles me. Pickleball is just a current cutesy-poo name for "paddle tennis" which was played in practically every public park in the 'Forties and 'Fifties. The equipment is the same, the court is the same, and the rules are little changed since I played paddle tennis as a 10-12 year old in the 'Forties. The paddles were shaped like oversize ping-pong paddles from which the game got its name.

We have crickets in the southern USA… hear them chirping in the evening… and sometimes use them as bait for fishing.
Been so long, I don’t remember being aware of crickets the 3 years I lived in England.

I can see that. It has developed a little since then (it has an official rulebook) but I wasn't aware of anything like that being played in the U.K. I played 'Kerby' in which you threw a football across the street to your opponent, scoring a point if you bounced it off the kerb opposite so that it returned to you.
Looked it up on Wikipedia and lo and behold that has a World Champioship and rule book now!
Whatever happened to 'jumpers for goalposts' football?
