Good afternoon sports fans.
Beautiful weather for this game with the ladies.
Nikon D4 and Nikon D500 for the plays at the plate using the 80-400 4.5-5.6 vr.
Other shots D4 paired with the 200-500 5.6 vr.
1/2500 at 6.3 for the sweet spot on this particular lens and camera body.
Auto white balance
Auto iso

Now sit back, grab an adult beverage and take a look. Thanks as always for your comments good or bad. I can take it. lol grin...

Oh yeah by the way, the game was halted after the 5th because the score was 11-1. Here in the valley games are stopped if one team is ahead by 10 by the 5th inning.

Enjoyed the images. Nice and sharp. I would be interested to see the entire delivery of the Spartan pitcher with her palm down. Don't know if it was a pitch or warm up or what. Definitely caught MY eye!

Don't know if you have access or already tried it, but check out some shots from dead center. I'm finding that is becoming my go to location. I miss some defensive plays but the straight on images of the batter swinging (and hopefully connecting) make up for it.

You are well set up for these shots, that's for sure! Good job.

I don’t think I have enough length with a 200-500 with the D4. I could however try with the D500 which is a crop sensor. That would give me 650mm. Image quality??

REALLY nice work Jules, love them all. Headed to MaxPreps to look at the rest. Hoping to get out this next week to do some games. Has been awhile for me. Work around the house, sick for awhile has kept me home. I did shoot one game (just the last 2 1/2 innings) so cold with wind blowing. Started doing post work used a little Topaz. I thought they were looking pretty good. Submitted to Max, Brandon said some were pixelated, focus. I worked on them again sent in to Brandon same thing. I said TO HELL with it and deleted the whole gallery. Oh well!! Keep up the good work. Thanks BE SAFE!!

FWIW - I shoot full frame with a 100-400 lens from dead center. About 200' maximum distance to home plate. Then crop as/if needed. Just because I have also become a fan of a little bit of sharpening, I will sometimes do that. I figure when I can read the manufacturer's name on a glove or a tattoo on the moving arm of a batter, it is working pretty good!

I've seen the quality of your shots and have no doubt you would nail some good ones from CF. I tried it just because I was curious as to what I could actually get. Maybe something to try on those "off" non competitive days.

Use my d4 paired with the 200-500 5.6
D4 is a full frame.

Don’t try to do to much with Topaz. Great product but to be used in moderation. Pixelated to me means to much cropping?? Ya think that’s what happened?

Nice work Jules, I like the bunt motion in the last photo, these are all really exceptional. Damn I envy the natural fields you shoot at with the dirt/dust on slides, mits etc. Seems it was another lopsided game for you!

Yes it was. One of those games. The last softball game will be today, only because one of the moms wants photos.
Other than that only baseball will be accepted into my workload. Oh that's right I don't have a tight workload lol...
I love the smell of napalm in the morning. I mean the smell of the grass and dirt. When that goes away part of the game goes away too.
Have a good day,
Jules
