Big mistake" We are all working with the wrong nouns and adjectives, take a look:

NOUN
the making of a long, high-pitched cry or sound:

ADJECTIVE
making or characterized by a long, high-pitched cry or sound:

Better choices wod be: complaining, the colloquial form "bitching", griping, etc.

The ring occasionally gets accidentally moved when pulling the camera out of the bag. You realize that has happened when the usual aperture control on the body fails to operate.

I grew up with "whining" (def. 2), so I'll stick with it.

Many Sony and Sigma native E-mount lenses have de-clickable aperture rings on the lenses. Sigma for L-mount also (Sigma, Panasonic, Leica cameras) . You can choose to do manual aperture changes smoothly without any clicks , great for video. These de-clickable aperture rings also can be locked into "A" , for camera control of aperture settings.
