Great set Chief. I think the LB Heron is Best in Set with the Sora a close second. Nice capture on the Willet

Thanks, Jack. I think I agree with you. About the Little Blue and the Sora anyway. I humbly think the Little Blue shot is one of my very best, ever! I REALLY like that shot!! Not sure about the Willet, this guy just seems a lot bigger than that. But I remember being wrong, -once-. I was hoping that one time cured me of that nonsense, once and for all!

Went to Black Point Friday morning with a fellow Hogger. Thanks for the loan of the 500mm PF Dave! What a SWEET lens! Pleasure to meet you and brother Dan. Sorry we couldn't show you a Kingfisher. As luck would have it, we went back this morning and saw a beautiful male KF close and in great light.
#1 here is a Juvenile Little Blue Heron and a beautiful photo if I do say so!
# 2 and 3 here is a Sora. Looks like a Rail, but my bird book says no it isn't. It's a Krake.??
# 4 and 5 is a...I have no idea! If any one does, please let me know. I've been through my go to Bird ID Book twice and still have no idea.
I hope you like!

Beautiful set, Chief! Did you pair the 500 mm PF with the D500 or some other camera? A photographer I met recently said that he had problems with that setup, so had to sell the lens.

Thanks, Ronnie! No, I used it with the D850 and it worked really well! What a sweet lens! Hard to believe that a 500mm can be that small and light! I'll never have one because I find my 200~500 is so much more versatile and one heck of a lot less money! And is also a great lens IMHO. But light and small is a GOOD thing!

Great Photos. I was there on Thursday and did not see anything like you captured. We stayed on the road. I was wondering if get off the road and walk back on off road trails?

Thank you. We did two drive throughs on Friday, so that doubled our chances of seeing something good. It was surprisingly quiet as far as traffic was concerned. We stayed in the car on the road, drove slowly and kept a sharp lookout for any kind of motion and stopped often. It usually takes us about two hours to make the drive, which sounds like a long time for the relatively short distance, but it doesn't seem that long if we are getting good stuff! Black Point doesn't have the kind of trails that Lake Apopka has, where we often get out and walk. That has paid off for us there, but for Black Point, we just stay on the road.

Retired CPO, Your No. 2 Sora and the Willet with wings spread are my favorites.

Thanks, Barn Owl! I appreciate it! The Sora was a surprise and I was really pleased with the photos. The 'Willet' had me confused but that's two votes for Willet, so I guess I'll go with that. and take a third look in my Bird Guide Book! Yeah I do like the spread wing shot! Thanks again!

All great shots Keith. My favorites are the first and last. The first the reflection makes the shot along with great color and composition. The last was like he posed for you with the wing spread. You had a great day.
