You have more trouble with Amazon than any other person I know.

Jerry, I have to agree with Mac. In my experience Amazon seems to almost always get it right.
And in the rare instance where they don't, its easy to return a mistake

I was going to order a couple of plain, white Gildan T-shirts from Amazon, for about $5.00 each. When I got to the check-out process, the price was $9.00 each. I don't know how that happened, but I wanted these shirts to experiment with printing on them, but roughly $10 each was too much to pay for an experiment.

Be careful when checking out. The final price could be higher than the advertised price.

Yep, I always check the checkout price with the price in the listing before finalizing the purchase.

I really don’t like using online buying as the shipping usually makes the item cost more than if bought locally, if it could be found locally.

Amazon is an online marketplace. Many items are sold directly by Amazon. In that case Amazon buys in bulk at a discount and stores the products in Amazon Warehouses awaiting shipment. But most are being sold through Amazon by other merchants. In the later case, Amazon just takes an order and collects the money for the seller--just like PayPal. The seller is completely responsible for the quality of the product and delivering the item to you, with the product marked up additionally to cover its higher cost of delivery.

If your desired Amazon purchase is something that you can wait for...for an extended period of time, you can register your desired purchase at https://camelcamelcamel.com/, which is an Amazon price tracker. Yes, you have to create an account with them using your email address. It will show you the history of the Amazon prices over the past many years, and you can plug in your desired price, and when that price is hit, you'll get an email informing of such.

But then again, as one already knows, Amazon can and does change prices frequently, so if you don't grab the desired price right away, it could change the next day.

Food items are far more expensive on amazon. One of my own discoveries: I can buy a 30-oz bag of Bob's Red Mill white popcorn kernels locally for less than $4.00. On amazon they are $7.50.

Have experienced different pricing with colors in clothing, bedspreads or curtains.

That is because Amazon purchased Whole Foods, which may be a high-end grocer but comes with a high-end price as well.

I very, very rarely use Amazon becuz of problems like you have described and several other reasons. About once or twice a month I go to lunch with friends and the conversation always comes around to, "What has Amazon done to you since the last time we were together.?"

That has happened to me twice. Once, the price more than doubled at the checkout. I don't even look at Amazon any more.
