I was going to order a couple of plain, white Gildan T-shirts from Amazon, for about $5.00 each. When I got to the check-out process, the price was $9.00 each. I don't know how that happened, but I wanted these shirts to experiment with printing on them, but roughly $10 each was too much to pay for an experiment.

Be careful when checking out. The final price could be higher than the advertised price.

They must use AI and figured out this Jerry guy would buy it for $10. But I found for a good number of items Amazon prices are a lot higher than what I can buy locally. I use this all the time
https://www.amazon.com/Three-Crabs-Brand-24-Ounce-Bottle/dp/B01JK11GZW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=3+crabs+brand+fish+sauce&qid=1679749721&sprefix=3+crab%2Caps%2C97&sr=8-2

and my local supermarket for $4.99

More than once I've seen Amazon prices more than double than elsewhere. I've not NOTICED them changing the price from the screen price to the check out price though.

I was going to buy the $59 1TB SSD drive Jerry referenced a while ago and put it in my cart. Then I had some second thoughts and the next day decided to buy the thing. Went to the cart and it was $89... I passed. Few days later did an on-line search for the same item and Amazon had it on sale again, but for like $69.

Yes! It's not hard to find better pricing - even with free delivery. The modem I received in three days from Walmart yesterday was about $15 cheaper than Amazon's price. Amazon's deliveries to me have been taking a week or more.

I've found that on Amazon when buying clothing, the lower priced items often come from a link to a specific size. Often that link leads to a size that isn't a popular or common size, thus explaining the difference in price at checkout when you select a different (more popular or common) size.

That doesn't sound very sympathetic. I'm sure you can do better.

I don't think "trouble" is the word. This post was a warning about a price increase between seeing the price on the site and clicking on Add to Cart. My common "problem" is slow delivery, which has become the rule more than the exception.

I placed 240 orders last year, many of them for multiple items. Think of how much money I saved on gas (and time) by not driving an hour round-trip into town. 8,880 miles @ 40 mpg X $3.50 = $777.

I have 70 orders so far this year.

They've shut down two distribution centers because he is buying more from WalMart!

Food items are far more expensive on amazon. One of my own discoveries: I can buy a 30-oz bag of Bob's Red Mill white popcorn kernels locally for less than $4.00. On amazon they are $7.50.

Have experienced different pricing with colors in clothing, bedspreads or curtains.
