I like DPReview before Amazon bought it. Since the time Amazon bought it I don't care for it any more. So now Amazon closes it makes no different to me.

I try not to post redundant opinions, comments, or advice. If I accidentally do, it is a matter of TIME. Since I am still working and do have many other responsibilities and have not time to read over 110+- pages, which is ofttimes infighting and unmitigated silliness. So, I answer the OP's question or respond to the thread and go on to other things.
I tend to complain about rude, sarcastic, and "trolling" behaviors rather than redundant posts. Now that DP Review is closing down, perhaps it is time to somehow refine THIS site, eliminate the nonsense, or simply move onto another site where there is a better degree of moderation and the administration is interested in quality content rather than "clickbait"!

I have always enjoyed the forums on DPReview over those on UHH. There is a lot less nonsense, snarky and rude comments and infantile behavior.

Thank you for clarifying that.

Boy isn't that the truth!
They do everything with some entertainment value. It's a great way to make technology digestible. I loved the puppets hitting the ground...
I'm with you. I've used dpreview for advice about camera purchases for what?? 20,30 years? All I know is that was my resource. Chris and his partner provided reviews I've trusted. It's a great loss. I did not know about Amazon's involvement. I hope dp made a great deal of money when they sold it. The lack of Amazon caring for photography is not surprising. We are a social group of people who want more out of photography than dollars and cents. We look for advice and personally, after a relatively long lifetime in photography, I look for empathy. I don't know why I tend to pick on the Northrups, but their lack of "Mitleid" for the average joe galls me. When was the last time we saw or read a column or vlog from an important source that said anything about the advantages of used equipment. The fact that dream cameras could be yours for a fraction of the original prices. Pop Photo ( remember them?) used to have columns about used equipment. What's out there today? I remember sitting with. Victor Keppler ( try to remember) and discussing current photo trends with him. Of course that was then this is now. I cut my Photo teeth on an Article written by Bob Schwalberg...(Pop Photo Dec., 1958 ) and then had the great good fortune to tell him about it directly. Now my main resource Dpreview is gone too. C'mon guys if you have the time let's have a new resource for digital and film cameras which doesn't kowtow to the big manufacturers. DSLRs aren't dead. Micro 4/3 rds isn't dead. Sorry Chelsea, sorry Tony, as long as photographers have availability of used equipment, no cameras are dead. They may fade away, but dead?? NEVER!! Best regards,vroger- member, Leica Users Group.(opinion my own).

I agree. I know about Victor Keppler from reading the columns of his son Herbert Keppler who remains, in my opinion, one of the best ever to convey photographic information to us regular camera toters. I have piles of old Popular and Modern Photography magazines that I have saved. I enjoy browsing through them now and then. Also have the old Shutterbugs starting when they were oversized.

Yeah, I grew up reading Herb's columns. He was one of the greats.

I like Herb. I reall miss him. I enjoy reading his article even when I don't agree with him. Also they don't do review to the level of Norman Rothchild did back then.
