Go for it! I used to have a 1952 Chevy, and the improvements made to the 1953 model were, well, I don't know, but it must be better than the '52.

I wonder why kicking the tires went out of style. That was a great way to figure out which car to buy.

I had a 51 Chevy when I was an apprentice. It caught fire one day on my way to work. I got as far as the fire department around the corner from the shop I worked at when it got too hot inside to go any further. I pulled over in front of the fire dept. and ran down the road. Looking back I saw it totally in flames. Not a soul came out of the fire dept. to put it out. So....I called it in only to find out later it totally burned up without any attention from the fire dept. I called my friend at Bibb's Auto Wrecker in San Carlos Ca. who promptly removed it before I got in trouble. I I often still wonder what the hell happened to the fire department that day?

Lunchtime!

The linkage on the column shifter on my '52 got messed up. I bought a floor shifter kit for $19.95. It worked great. It's funny that I still remember the price, but I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.

Did you get it through J.C.Whitney? In the final days of my '53 Belair the gear shift lever (3 on the tree) came off in my hand. I replaced it with a large vice grip and it worked fine for the remainder.

Ah, J.C. Whitney.

No, I bought it at the local "speed shop." It was a small store that was run by the owner. He had all sorts of interesting things. I got those "Moon" wheel covers there.

The first car I remember my parents having was an early 50's Chevy. The steel on it was as thick as a tank.

Ours was a 1938 Olds convertible, with a rumble seat.

Had a 43 Dodge Power Wagon that you could start only with a modified tent stake. No one could start it but me. Got too drunk at a lake to drive home. When the police threatened to hall me to the slammer because we couldn't drive my girlfriend at the time got it started and drove us home while I layed passed out in the back. Should have married her.
