The wife and I went out looking for a second car yesterday. After kicking the tires on this '53 Chevy, I'm thinking it might be the car for us.

Gives a lot more of an idea to the seller.

My uncle would always tell the salesman he was looking for a cream puff but he wasn't talking about tweenkies.

Go for it! I used to have a 1952 Chevy, and the improvements made to the 1953 model were, well, I don't know, but it must be better than the '52.

I wonder why kicking the tires went out of style. That was a great way to figure out which car to buy.

The tires are now so thin with extreme low profile tires so you ended up kicking the metal rim which can hurt.

I think that kicking a tire would tell you whether that tire had enough air kind of like when truckers get a small bat to hit the tires to see if they need air or if they are flat.same thing with a car.if one of the car tires was low that ment that the car was probably not well maintained.i went to deliver a car at a small lot and the guy was telling me that some car buyers from accross the boarder came by to purchase and old but good running car.the car was selling for $2,500.they went out there and turn the car on and after checking it out and checking the oil one of the buyers showed him the dip stick and it had water in the oil.these guys decided they didn't want the car after all since the motor had water in it.one of the buyers commented that they probably had a good motor at their shop that would fit the car and if they would get a great deal on the car they might consider buying it.the seller sold it as is for $1,000.the next morning the seller told his mechanic that he had to let the car go for $1,000 cause it had water in the motor. At that point the mechanic told the seller that he had changed the oil and that the car had no such thing.a few month later the same guys came by to see anther one of his cars.the seller recognized them and was right on the ball.one of the buyer tryed to distract him while the other one pulled the dip stick and pulled a small bottle of water out of his pocket and added some water to the dip stick.the buyer proceeded to tell him that the motor had water in it.he told him that the only water around here was in that small bottle in his pocket and if they wanted the car they would have to pay full price for it.they did.

Looks like a several collectible cars in that lineup.

Kicking the tire of a car must be genetically built in to us guys. After taking his first ride in his new electric Jeep, my three year old son got out and walked around the little jeep to give it a look over and promptly kicked the right front tire.

I'm more attracted to the black walls on the 55 Chevy

An old rule was see how many tires on the car matched . Now days check dot date code, see how old the tires are. Have seen brand new tread on 10 plus year old tires. Scarry stuff.

I thought I was being funny. I got these pics off the internet. They're both from the mid 50's. I thought it was more obvious, I guess not. They're not really me and the missus. Sorry.

Yeah just like revving the engine right after starting it or to fix a issue. Lol lol. The guy down the road does that all the time when his truck is running bad. It hasn't fixed it yet but he has hope. Lol

When I was young, we had to "blow the carbon out" of our engines on a regular basis. 😎
