Grand Canyon N.P. Panorama...
Looking west from Mather Point. This was an eight shot, hand held panorama taken one morning as the sun broke through a high cloud cover and lit up the Canyon. Gives you an idea of how rugged the terrain is and how difficult hiking in the Canyon would be.
…like someone pulled the plug and all the water drained out…amazing image…! Nicely done…

You're right, Jim! I have hiked the canyon many times! I graduated from High School in Flagstaff about 80 miles away. Many people don't know that there are several trails in the Canyon beyond The Kaibab and the Bright Angel. Some are VERY difficult. The most difficult part is carrying enough water to get from one source to another!
Ah, to be young and vigorous again!!
This is a great shot!! Thanks for posting it!!

Flagstaff...who woulda thought!!
You must have practically grown up in the Canyon enjoying its beauty and challenges. For whatever reason, we never visited the Canyon as often as we should have...been almost 40 years since we were here last. On that trip we stayed at the El Tovar lodge. On this trip, we were amazed by the development since our last visit...lodges, cabins, stores and a large Visitor Center complex.
We've spent several vacations on the North Rim and I've been drawn twice for deer on unit 12A West. Good times! A friend that hunted with me is a rabid treasure hunter and brought maps and info on Teddy Roosevelt hunting camps. We spent several days before the hunt checking out the camps with metal detectors. Found lots of treasures (
)...old out of production cartridge cases, tax tokens, a rusted shut pocket knife, loose change and a token for a beer at a local saloon, old military type mess kits with flatware. Anyhow, good times and memories from years past.
