So now: How long before silver overtakes digital photography?

With the recent MOFI controversy, I would have thought vinyl sales would drop off some. The vinyl purists took a big hit with that one. Digital is better in all ways. JMHO. And I grew up with records in the 60s and 70s. If I had kept all the first pressings I had I would be rich.

Interesting; as vinyl sales climb, CD sales drop and streaming subscriptions climb. Sounds like the Millenials and Gen Zers aren't interested in owning hard copies of their music while purists are headed back to the rich sound of vinyl. My kids don't own any form of sound reproduction equipment and instead ask Alexa to play music over a little 3" speaker on their counter.

That's because their new music isn't worth listening to on a real stereo with large speakers.

The vinyl sales are up a bit but the CD sales is down a lot. CD is the best media for hard copies but people don't want that any more. They rather do the streaming.

There are two things going on. CD sales are declining, and record sales are increasing. Computers and cars no longer have a way to play CDs, so why buy them? I'm looking forward to my next computer and car. Each will have a way to play LP records.

With modern head units that have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, there's no need for physical media in your car. You can get Spotify, Amazon Music right on your unit or just play music from your phone. But I still like to have physical media at home where I can look at the album artwork, etc.

Is there any software APP that degrades the quality of a CD so that it sounds like a Vinyl LP after half a dozen playing ? Maybe clip the dynamic range, add noisy snap, crackle and pops?
Variable speed turntable to playback to provide a nice wobbly sound?
Repetitive "stuck in groove", or skip grooves?
Let's feed this rant!
How about shifting to 1" reel to reel tape to hear the purity of the the original format of the studio recordings before they were then converted to Vinyl Masters?

I still run CD's through my 2007 Jaguar, and my late lady friend used them in her 2012 Lexus GX. Go figure. It's the platform I've used for a long time, both cars had reasonably good sound.

Right. I Bluetooth my phone music thru my car stereo system, much better sound quality. At home I have my Sony 300cd player from the 90s with large speakers and amplifier I've had since the 80s and still sound great. It's full of oldies on CDs mostly from the 60s,70s, and 80s along with some 50s and a couple selected 90s.

Vinyl & CD user, tried Amazon Music : way to compressed! I guess to change to smaller format no dynamic range, almost like Muzak
Tried Opera and Classical, no complete operas just arias but all ruined by compression.
How are other streaming services?
Will dust off my Heathkit expander but probably beyond repair.
CDs are supposed to be capable of great dynamic range, in truth quite a few are just reissues of vinyl or tape editions with limited dynamic range
