Sounds sane and reasonable to me.

We are on daylight saving time today. I wonder if anybody knows if the time will be back to standard time in the fall or it would stay this way for good.
I hope it goes back to standard time.
You've probably all seen this before but here it is again:
When told the reason for daylight saving time the old Indian said:
‘Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.’
We farmers never wanted it in the first place. That was a government ruse.

So whether or not daylight saving time becomes permanent has not been decided yet. Am I correct? That is why I post the question. I am not interested in whether it's the right or wrong thing to do as it would be a very long thread.
Click on the link I provided early in your thread. Let me know if you have questions
I don't use clocks much...not even when I had my own business.
I used the sun...still do.
If you don't wear a watch...no one will ask you what time it is...though I can usually peg it to within 10 minutes by the sun...but no one asks...perfect.

My father always said, "It is not the government that is the problem, it is the people we elect to run it for us that are the problem."
I did not realize it at the time but today I know that my father was a wise man. I think our form of government and system is pretty sound. There is not one better anywhere on the planet. It is the people we keep electing to run and operate our government that is THE problem.
Blaming the government for its problems is like blaming cars for all the wrecks that occur. Cars are not the problem, it is the ones operating the cars that cause the problems .
Until we start electing intelligent, practical, and sensible people we will continue to have wrecks in our government.

People have a hard enough time now trying to determine the time in a different time zone even when it is different by an hour or two.
I cannot imagine the problems and issues if we had time zones split by half hours. It would add a layer of complexity and confusion that is completely unneeded. With some time zones wanting to stay on whole hours, some on half hours, it would be a nightmare for schedulers, time clocks, etc.
Now that I think about it though, I think a few countries have their time zones offset from a whole hour. Iran and Pakistan use the half hour.
I held my breath for an hour the other night. Must be some kinda record.

You mean only change the clocks by half an hour😳?
What is "Time" anyway? A constant that cannot be changed by setting clocks? Or is it something man invented to know when to start the coffee pot at 05:30?

It was invented when hunters needed to gather and leave for the next mammoth hunt. If you missed it or slept too late you did not get to eat.

I read a good article about this recently. People have disliked the time changes since it was first implemented. The problem has been for years that the politicians did not think this was worth their attention so nothing was ever done. In the last few years, this changed and many politicians took notice of people's dislike and started legislation to stop the changes.
However, what they found was that, just like you read in the opinions here, people were divided almost equally as to which time they wanted. Some wanted daylight savings and others wanted standard time. So politicians were put into that zone they feared the most - wrong whatever decision they made. No matter which time standard was chosen about 50% of the voters would be mad at them. So doing what politicians do best, they did nothing.
As with many other decisions in life, there are no perfect solutions. Both standard and daylight savings times have advantages and disadvantages. Pick one and go with it.

One quote: The bill would allow Arizona and Hawaii, which do not observe daylight saving time, to remain on standard time.
All this arguing back and forth is ridiculous. Move all clocks in the US to half way between the two different times and leave them there. Give a little and get a little for both sides of the discussion. It is called cooperation and negotiation.
