If you check out how he t***sported, carried, and used his equipment, I'd imagine that the lifespan was not particularly long, and that he had to renew or replace it relatively often. And I've never seen or read anything which led me to believe that he used beginner or enthusiast level equipment. He used the best lenses and the most accurate and reliable shutters available.

Exactly!!! That is what I was saying earlier. Go back and read my previous posts. His equipment at the time was state of the art, no doubt about it. It is only dinosaur stuff in the context of modern equipment, or what we think of as modern equipment. EVERYTHING we are using today will some day be "dinosaur stuff." There will come a day when DSLR will be so antiquated that people will need to look it up to find out what it means. Do you really think "DSLR" or "mirrorless" will have any meaning in 100 years? Those terms will be as antiquated and out of use as "daguerreotype" is today. Does that mean photography today cannot be successful? If so, that means that the quest for success in photography is never-ending and we might as well stop looking for it. "Throw your cameras away, children. You will never be successful photographers."

I've got akso tons of stuff... But that is for work. (Ando yes, also for fun )

Of course; I had my own company so I could get stuff directly from contracts, pay for it through prorated overhead charges, as well as write off the stuff I bought with my own funds.

Just as a matter of interest, please define "fair share."

I don't write the irs code I just follow them because I'm honest. You brag about using a business deduction for personal use items. The IRS has been notified. That's how people who c***t on taxes get caught by bragging about it, so silence is best and let the man/women upstairs judge you

I'm on SS so very little income for now. When need or want something I go I to savings, money already taxed. In few years I'll be forced to take IRA money and pay taxes on that

You are all mixed up. You're confusing me with another poster.

The code is written; it is what it is. "Fair share" is a subjective term thrown around by ignorant people who don't know what they're talking about. The poster referred to writing off items purchased with personal funds. He did NOT say he bought them for personal use, nor did he ever say they were intended for personal use. That is an assumption you are making. I'm sure your taxes have always been 100% t***hful and above-board, and I'm sure you would say you could withstand any audit at any time. Have you ever seen the actual code? It is 3" thick printed on thin paper. You have undoubtedly violated one term or another at some time or another. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Okay...I am going to REALLY simplify it this time.

The payback for the stimulus...is in everything you buy know...the inflation is the result of the stimulus checks.

Look around the financial globe right now...it's the result of 'build back better'...

The damage is in the pipeline now...with no end in sight.

You are paying...every day.

He bought them for the business so now his bragging to use personally. Not the way tax laws work. He's running personal items through the business, pretty clear he's doing that.
So why are you involved?

Just stop...you are woefully uninformed on the financial end of things...most are.

The tax laws are written that way...on purpose...by both sides of the political aisle.

EVERYBODY who owns a business does that. It's not the right perspective you have.

You create an income stream...and that's exactly where you live...in the stream.

People who have never operated a successful business...work with much smaller streams (more like a brook)...different set of tax laws for them.

Different streams...different laws...restrictions...opportunities.

Tax laws are set up to reward the folks who do the producing...not the worker bee.
