GAS is a sign of Immaturity, Lack of Confidence, Indecision, Failure, Boredom, Label Worship and Desperation.
It certainly doesn't stand for Get And Shoot.

There are still plenty of self-styled photographers who slobber over the likes of AA - who did Get And Shoot, without GAS.

There are no limits to what you can accomplish when you own the best equipment.

Well OK, no *hardware* limits.
Proof of "organic" limits plaguing the owners of the very best gear are rife. Simply browse the UHH Gallery.

There are few limits to what you accomplish if you use the equipment you do have well. Many photographers try to “fix” their technique” by longing for more expensive equipment.
Professionals have GAS, Amautuers have GAS, and at some time maybe not today, next week, next month, or whenever most will have GAS. I must have had it. Nine cameras and counting.
In golf it is called "Buying a game", meaning prople who buy new sets of clubs, a new putter, or a new driver convinced the new item will make them into a Phil Mickelson overnight. The actor Mickey Rooney was famous for that, he once trashed his whole set of clubs midway of a match and bought a complete new set at the pro shop to finish the round. No, he did not win the match.

GAS is an addiction. Four cameras ago, I owned a Nikon D300 and I was perfectly happy with its performance. We need an AA for photographers with GAS.😊
My ex wife use to say do you NEED it or WANT it?
I did say ex wife

I reckon that I don't have GAS. I have never had a desire to own the most expensive, so called best equipment. When I was a teenager I did drool over the cameras advertised in the photography magazines but I was too poor to buy one. I had a Brownie Holiday Flash Camera that Santa brought me when I was about 14. I bought my first, good 35mm camera in a pawn shop in Fayetteville, NC when I was in the army.

Quite judgemental of you. Here is my judgement: Hoarding money is a sign of greed

Of who's definition of "the best equipment" are you speaking? Does the term "best" reflect price, quality, availability, weight, or any one of many different choices? In some hands "best" might be the wrong type for the moment. Put a very expensive, latest, and highest rated body in the hands of someone who has no idea what "depth of field" means and you have a recipe for disaster. Verbal ratings are deceptive as no system is in place to use objectively. If someone on the UHH would create a "Concource d'lemone" for photographs, where only images captured using equipment costing $100.00 or less could be entered to determine exactly what denotes "best" we may have an answer. Imagine the arguments THAT might start.
