Well done. 500 is a little long but the intimacy makes them more interesting.

Did you use a mirror lens? The donut bokeh on the flamingo shots seems to indicate it. My 500 f8 mirror is my favorite hand held lens for the zoo. I like the challenges it brings. I also drag a 600 f4 sometimes. Even greater challenges with even greater rewards.

You did a wonderful job with that lens. Don't leave it at home...let it shine!

That's the lens - a Reflex-NIKKOR C, fixed 500mm, f-8. You have a good eye.
