Strange sky this morning.

North star, the Moon with the Suns light on the bottom of it and the Sun just rising, a few savage looking clouds that blew away.
Sorry about the focus, but it was handheld and very windy on the balcony. :thumbup:

The bright star if that's the one you are referring to as being the North Star is in fact the planet Venus. The lunar eclipse will be on Nov. 28, 2012 but will not be a total eclipse only a Penumbral. Details can be found at: http://www.moongiant.com/Lunar_Eclipse_Calendar.php

As stated that's no North Star it,s Venus .

Thanks for the info, I was a bit confused over the positions, just assumed it was the North star cos it was the britest, thanks for the link, I will keep a lookout for the eclipse.

Actually that is a common misconception that Polaris (North Star) is the brightest. It is in fact not very prominent as far as the brighter stars go. In a list of the brightest stars in the sky in ranks number 45.

Wow that is interesting, I was always told that it was the brightest in the sky.

I agree with treslek, the star is Venus; however, the image is really good and for being handheld it's more in line with outstanding. I give it a :thumbup: dadyassa.

Thanks, first shot was out the kitchen door as I was making the morning tea about 07.30, second was upstairs on a bedroom balcony a few minutes later.
