I LOVED that truck!!!!!
SO comfortable for long trips, SO comfortable.
(Hopefully my one daughter still has it....)

Although the cab will sit 4 (or 5) but it's not a large cab. I found that many newer trucks have very long cab but short bed. And many of these drivers think they are driving a Ferarri with elevated seat.

I had the same thing in black, even the cap and the running boards, although my running boards were different.

Yea. I guess I could live with a short bed. I don't get 8' lumber anymore. Mine held a front-end loader of firewood.

I always got the 8' bed, just in case. It was perfect for plywood. Now that I have a Honda Fit, I can carry almost any size wood inside it, but plywood goes on a 1969 Ski-Doo trailer behind the Fit. I'll have to replace that someday, but it's still holding together. The rusting frame is what will do it in. I've replaced the hitch, wiring, lights, wheels, and deck more than once. but I can't make a new frame.

Every time I see one speed by me or take off from a stop light, I think of how much fuel they're burning compared with my Fit.

I wonder if you push the pedal to the metal can your tiny 4 cylinder engine out run their big V8? I think you need to test sometimes.

I noticed a lot of tailgaters in Georgia - asked a retired LEO about it - he said they like to follow because the lead car is generally the one to get pulled over. I asked why the squad cars tailgate - he just shrugged and said habits are hard to break... Not impressed, but like you, I'll slow down or pull over until they go around...

That’s true; my granddaughter has a Fit. On the other hand, I can’t haul hay and straw in it or pull a horse trailer. My F 150 gets pretty good mileage, all things considered--25-30 on the road empty (which it is most of the time). It’s our go-to vehicle. My wife’s Honda Insight (it gets 45-60) sits in the garage most of the time. I grew up driving a pickup, and I just like the feel of driving one.

Fortunately, police cars seldom tailgate. In the few times that has happened, I got out of the way. When I'm going 55 in a 55 zone, and a cop is tailgating, do I accelerate to 60? : ) Driving at the speed limit with a cop behind you is a bad situation. I keep watching the speedo and my mirror. The road ahead? Who cares?

Sorry, but pickup truck are the most common tailgaters. It's almost universal. When one follows at a reasonable distance, I keep looking in my mirror, wondering why he's so far back.

As I said, I've had this on my mind for a long time, but I thought maybe it was just me. When two other people recently mentioned it, I figured it was common enough that I could post it.

I think they appear to be following closer because of the height of their headlights. Look at the grill/ headlights on a newer pickup, some are almost shoulder high. (not to mention, most are waaay too bright at night)
