What what your first picture that got you hooked on phototgraphy? My first picture that got me hooked was taken with a Nikon point and shoot bridge camera. i can remember trying to get the picture and failing then having a brain wave to go get a piece of card board from the house and the following picture is the result, the cardboard went behind the robber flies while i got the picture

I don’t remember what my first picture was, but I started with a Kodak Instamatic when I was in the Navy in the 1960s.

I got started with a 1937 Agfa folding camera. I took a picture of the then brand new US Marine Corps Memorial (the Iwo Jima flag raising) in Arlington Cemetery and of the US Capital Dome in about 1957 or 1958, and been hooked since.

I don't remember which photo it was, but the one I remember the most was the rear of a shrimping boat in Port Aransas, TX. It was a beautiful red and white. The exposure was perfect. I still have the print and negative somewhere. I saw the boat a while back and she looks the same albeit older and a little tired.

I no longer have the print or the negative but it was a B/W picture of Bagnell Dam in Lake of the Ozarks, MO. The thing that hooked me was the tree foliage that framed the dam from a high angle. This was with a Kodak 126 Brownie camera. A memorable shot because I was only 8 or 9 when I took it. I’ve been retired for 11 years now!

I began when I was eight or ten with a Hopalong Cassidy box camera some seventy years ago, and I still have it. My first 35mm was a used Exa, and I still have it, too.
