All drone shots today. The first five are of an abandoned stone crusher on a quarry a few blocks east of the old Joliet Prison, taken a week ago. The second of the crusher, you can see me next to the car on the road in the background to the left of center. The schoolhouse was also taken with a drone at about 20 feet elevation a couple of years ago, but just processed yesterday. The old truck, tractor and windmill was taken at the top of a hill along route 66 in Godley, Illinois this past Fall. I didn't want to climb a barb wire fence, so sent the drone up and shot the image at about the same height of a tripod.

I keep seeing this image pop up on my iphone home page. It is very well defined and clear focus so I dug it out of my archives to check it out.

The Apple home screen image is much better. I need to find out how they do it. Any of you know?

We actually had a bit of snow a couple weeks ago and I was able to catch a large flock of turkeys crossing our property. I was able to sneak out onto the porch to get these - they're not the greatest but since wild turkeys run at the slightest noise I'm happy with just getting them.

All of these are spectacular. I am particularly impressed with the tone and clarity.

Thank you!
I shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 from 2018. The sensor is ok but out of camera the DSLR/mirrorless are probably better. The extended tonal range is because they are all five shot HDR’s merged in Adobe Camera Raw then rendered just as one would do a single image in ACR and Photoshop. The detail in the full size is really remarkable but the result of using Topax Gigapixel and upscaling to 32,000 pixels on the long side. The magic is when it’s resized to the out of camera size the resolution is exponentially increased. None of these images are sharpened. This is merely would happens with the conversion process I described.
All the processes involved layers, masks and low opacity brushes.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a wild turkey near me. A lot of coyotes though. Probably a good reason for no turkeys!! Lol
