Coming in for a landing

Nice capture. I’ve tried numerous times to get food shots of the amazing
Displays of startled birds flushing
And resettling. It’s hard to capture an image that is artistic and tells the story. Nice job. By the way, I don’t think these are Willets. Look like a combination of Western and
Least Sandpipers to me. But then,
I may be wrong.

That is what I thought originally, that they were Sandpipers, but I wasn't sure. I was looking at the wings and I thought maybe. I know that I have seen these sandpipers in flocks before, so I think that you are right.

I don't know what it was, but on this day they were all getting spooked regularly. I was there one other time and a birder pointed out a Peregrine falcon that was spooking the birds. But not being a birder, I couldn't see one. So I don't know what was spooking them.
