Wonderful examples of "cozy" for you. "Winter" particularly speaks to me though, both because of the beautiful portrait and your story. One of my very good friends lives in a neighborhood with a dog that comes my everyday for yum yums. And when we visit/stay in their cabin across the street, "Charlie" comes by their too. And...he always gets a dog biscuit that is in the cupboard just for him.
That dog had such a connection with both my mom and me! When she got hurt and the owner had to put her down, I just took it exceptionally hard! My dad died when I was 22, and later in life when the dog was so close to us, my mom always said she suspected my father got reincarnated in the dog - and that's why she was always around. In the dog's old age, her hearing was way down. When we went for walks, she used to start walking in front of cars she didn't hear. So I used to avoid her when I went walking. But she'd always be sitting in the road ahead of me, smiling because she had outsmarted me. She'd smell my cigar and find me!
