You didn't say the model of your dead Epson printer. I assume it used dye ink. If the ink color pallet of your Epson was the same as the Canon Pro 200 it's not totally surprising you got prints you couldn't differentiate. I'm assuming you didn't print a "standard image" with each printer to do the comparison. In order to determine the capability of your printer you need to print a "standard image" which includes black, white and color gradiations. That way you can determine which icc profile will get you the best accurate color neutral prints for a specific paper using specific ink with a specific printer. If you are wondering about the "standard image" I mention you can download the file from a tab on JToolman facebook group (or watch tons of how to or comparison videos). Whenever I try a new paper I make prints of the standard image using different icc profiles to find which gives the best results.

All printer manufacturers provide icc profiles within their drivers which are produced for that specific printer model using OEM ink for their own different paper types. By selecting paper type in the printer panel you select the corresponding Mfg icc profile. There can be some mfg tolerances within the lot of the same model printer. Some "purists" obtain custom icc profiles for their specific printer using their paper and ink choice. These can be purchased or prepared using rather expensive colorimetric hardware. You can also download free icc profiles from paper and ink suppliers and experiment to find the best match.

My Epson printers are Dead so can’t compare them to anything! I’ve had the Wonderful R2200 and the shitty R3000 printer that leaked ink on my prints! I’m only talking about paper print profiles and have no idea about an ink color palette or how to change it. Sure I can download lots of icc profiles and print comparisons And use up the $100 ink supply. Be Realistic

You're welcome! The ink color palette is for your Canon Pro 200 is Photo Black, Matt Black, Light Black, Light-Light Black, Cyan, Light Cyan, Vivid Magenta, Light Magenta and Yellow which is accidentally the same color varieties on the Epson 3000, but it's unknown if the specific shades match between companies. The ICC profile is the recipe that tells the printer how much and which colors of ink to drop on paper to create the color in the image. I believe you got lucky. However, that luck may have only been based on the particular color ranges in the print you chose. That's why you need to test printer output using a "standard print". Don't worry about printing out a few 8X10 test prints using different ICC profiles. Realistically the ink cost per 8X10 print on your Canon Pro 200 is about $0.65 . That's much less than your Pro 200 dumps into the waste ink tank everytime it does an automatic cleaning cycle.
