Excellent shots of the action!

It would seem to me that a wider wheel and tire would be better for this application. It seems a thin wheel would just cut deeper and deeper into the muck, eventually just miring down into it.

Swamp Buggy Races have been held annually in Naples, FL since 1949 (!), but yesterday was my first time seeing this sport. These pictures are actually from the practice day, which provided better photo opportunities. These races combine the excitement and speed of a car race with the mud and water of a swamp. The track is only a few feet deep for the most part, but there are a few deep spots that the buggies have to get over or get stuck. Amazingly fun experience. Used a Nikon Z9 and an AF-S 80-400 lens with adapter.

Very nicely captured. I've seen them on TV a couple of times. I think it looks like fun

Reminds me of the days when we put snowmobiles on open water..... they sank too.

I did something similar with a six pack of Budweiser cans one afternoon. They float if empty, but who needs an empty can when you're diving for full ones?

Don, it was new to me as well, but this has been going on for 74 years! According to their publicity, there will be night races in March and April as well. Those might be difficult to photograph, but very interesting.

I have never heard of that. What do the rear wheels look like?

I saw rear wheels that were both larger and smaller than the front ones. I am not sure if there are any standardized regulations about the body or wheels. These come from the old-time DIY swamp buggy culture, where anything that could move was fair game. Primarily, these were (are) used for hunting in the swamps. I understand that there are racing classes for the buggies, but these relate to the type of engine, from single stroke lawnmower engines to V-8s. Others may know more about these vehicles and race requirements.
