Oh, sorry to hear that Frank, a sad story indeed! But, it is a lesson we all need to hear once in a while, shame it was at your expense though!

No problem it wasn't the adapters fault. But I still have to get the camera fixed at a later date.

UPDATE!! about product
This morning while getting ready to take my camera to Schiller's Camera for repair I was removing battery and cards, I just happened to turn the camera on after I had removed the CF card and it everything worked! so I turned the camera off and went to insert the CF card and it would not seat, I inspected the slot and can't see any bent pins but Im sure something is not cricket!!
also earlier I had checked the output slots on a battery and on the adapter and they were the same+/-.
tried the adapter without the CF card and it does work, but it is a flimsy POS but for the price I can't complain, it is exactly what I expected and as soon as Nikon has the adapter in stock I will order one.
I also have a call in for the customer service mgr. to apologize, at least I wasn't a complete A##hole.
I bought this camera new in 2016 and it only has a shutter count of 6699 so I will be sending it in for repair in the future.
BTW the five contacts on the battery have different voltages
and there could have had improper voltage output, which I checked this morning, couldn't do it yesterday didn't have my DVM, I had it at the shot up the road from my house.
UPDATE!! about product br This morning while gett... (show quote)

I do not think the power supply putting too high a voltage. The battery pack has 5 connections and only 2 are for the power. I think it's the signal on the other 3 that are not correct that caused the camera to act up.

Im understand your thinking but anything can happen to much or any voltage to one pin can screw things up and mistakes can happen in assembly.
I didn't have my DVM at home when this happened to check things.
Besides I was pissed off the camera was working great and BAM it's not as soon as I plugged an aftermarket product into it.
