Are you signed into the Shutterfly site as a Costco member? When I sign in to Shutterfly now (after I transferred my photos to Shutterfly), I am seeing a "Costco Wholesale" logo at the top of the page. I am seeing 4 x 6 prints priced at $0.18 each.

Note that even though Costco is offering a 51 percent discount, I think Shutterfly's shipping and handling prices are probably higher.

Yes, but Costco's price was $.11 with NO shipping fees. I didn't see any reference to Costco when I was looking.

Shutterfly is a very good company to work with. They have some interesting directions sometimes. I have found their customer service very good. Yes, they are a very busy company and I am sure they will be happy to help you.
Don't give up on them, they are having growing pains.
And please, in the future, don't post such a negative post before resolving your issue. Thank you.

Thanks for you input. They had a problem with their web site. When I tried to find out about it I couldn't get anyone to talk (chat) to me. How do you resolve an issue if no one is talking? How much time should you spend trying to solve someone else's problem?
Isn't this part of why we belong to UHH, to gather information, learn from other peoples experience's?
I went to their discount sister company "Snapfish" and ten minutes later my order is on the way.

Completely negative posts regarding any retail service often prove to be of little value.

What, are you family or something?
If you bought a car that was an absolute POS would you be thankful that no-one warned you? Now you get to spend tons of money on repairs but thankfully you didn't have to listen to any negative reports.

Thank you for making my point.

You should be seeing a Costco logo at the top of the page, to the right of the Shutterfly logo. You might be signed into the sight without the Costco discount, although I am not sure how much they discount 4x6 prints, since they have always been around that price.
I just checked their app and Shutterfly is currently offering 4x4 or 4x6 prints for free if you order throughy their app, just pay shipping and handling.

In many respects, at least for photographers, Costco made a mistake by dropping the in-store photo processing and now the online photo center. In this and in other ways Costco is becoming less and less important as a place to shop - I say that having been a Price Club/Costco member since the late 1980s.

I doubt Shutterfly will be my 'go to' place for my photo needs. Not sure who will be but I have tried the local Walgreens and they did a rather nice job.

I agree. Costco is trying to focus on their core sales. Photos was a losing department for them. I suspect cellphones helped push the demise. I expect their vision department to go next. Then the bakery, and probably meat department as the wokism spreads regarding meat and eggs. The good news is their vegetable and fresh fruit areas will probably grow.

Has anybody tried Mpix? Seems like that name has been around for some time now.

I've looked at them several times, but their prices were always quite high, it seemed.

Yes, the Photo Center at my local Costco did take up a lot of real estate so I can see the desire to allocate that (very expensive) space to higher profit items. It was nice to order prints and have them shipped to some other place in the country for $0. One thing no one has mentioned was their Ink Refill service. In the early days they refilled my Canon cartridges and reset the chip (or whatever) but even before they went totally out of the business they no longer could refill my cartridges.

I have not yet tried Snapfish and I did go through the process of "transferring" my Costco membership to them but I'll bet that at some point in the future, that perk will disappear. Such is life at the retail level these days.

I use the local Walgreens for 4x6 and 5x7's (that's all I print) to send photos of the grandkids to those in our family not on the Internet. Costco was handy, but Walgreen's meets all my current needs.

I have used Shutterfly for photo books and mugs and will them for those projects.

I've been doing a search of comparable printing, and here's what I found:

https://snaphappymom.com/cheapest-place-to-print-photos/#0-cheapest-place-to-print-photos-4x6

According to this, Walmart is the cheapest at 9 cents (that's not the instant in-store prints) for 4x6. Amazon is cheapest for 5x7's.

I placed my test order with Snapfish yesterday. They are the low cost half of Shutterfly. Got my recite email today and they are offering to let me pick up my prints at Walgreens.???
Does this mean that Snapfish might be doing Walgreens photo work? Inquiring minds want to know.

Costco for a long time retained their silver halide processing equipment and eventually gave in to inkjet technology which is the same as Walmart uses.

Last time I printed at Costco they were still using the silver halide process. They were nice prints but didn’t reproduce some colors well, especially bright reds. As far as I can tell most of the “bulk” processing spots, (Walmart, Walgreens,CVS), still use the chemical process. Most high end labs use inkjet which gives superior color and potentially longer lasting prints.
