I considered the black crown night heron, but the pictures I saw had dark beaks and legs, unlike the yellow-green beak and legs above.

It is a juvenile black crowned night heron. Doesn't look at all like the mature version. Had me confused for many years since none of my bird books showed the juvenile version!
