Many on this site may already know this but I just found out how tough these small data cards are.
I misplaced a Lexar 64 gig card last week. Today my wife handed it to me explaining that I apparently
left it in the pocket of my jeans. It went through a complete wash/dry cycle in our laundry room and came out in perfect condition. Which is a very good thing since it contained a group of photos that hadn't yet been loaded into my PC.

Is it clean?
All it needs is a little ironing
Ok, it is NOT that resilient!
At least she didn't use bleach, otherwise all the colors would have been washed out.
(The actual memory chip is hermetically encapsulated. Should not be a problem unless mangled or melted.)
All of you: Thanks for the giggles!
I won't go into details, but I've got a few bad days behind me!
The humor and the giggles it caused, were just what I needed!
I now feel so much better!!!
Thank you all!
Esther
It is a testament to the technology that is behind these memory cards. I will buy two or three at a time. I keep many at home and one or two in my bags. I never risk formatting them after I download the photos to my computer. I just number them and put them away in a drawer in my dresser.
I also buy several at a time. Considering the amount of data they hold its mindboggling how cheap they are. And, though I'm ashamed to admit it, I have on several occasions gone out to shoot a specific subject only to arrive at my destination and discover my camera didn't have a data card. :(
Now I keep at least one in my car and several in my camera bag. Old age is a bitch.

Your lucky she doesn’t have an old Maytag wringer washer. I suspect it wouldn’t have made it after its pass through the wringer rollers.
Yep! Old age is a b’t¥€h. Just to let you know, when you don’t put fresh batteries in your calculator, you start to forget stuff.

If any of your shots are blurry and still need cleaning up you'll have to advise your wife to change her detergent!!
