Hello Hogs:
I have a Canon 6D that I bought in 2015. I like it, have used it a bunch, but I could have treated it better and it is getting a little long in the tooth. Plus, I am getting some GAS. I wonder what might be a reasonable next step up in Canon cameras from the 6D. Not a bunch of steps, but one or two. I mostly take landscape and stationary animal pics (from close to home-RMNP) with three lenses and a tripod:
1. Canon L 24-105
2. Canon L 300 fixed
3. Tamron 150-600
The weight, mirrorless (or not), and full frame (or not) are not so important to me, and I could purchase good used, as well.
There are so many model options with Canon, it is very CONFUSING.
Thanks for your opinions.
If mirrorless is not all that iimportant to you, consider the 5D MKIV.
My opinion is to get lenses that are made for the system. If you go to mirrorless, you'd be advised to get lenses made for the mirrorless system. If you've got the dough, and are young enough to make the commitment worth it, get the R5 and lenses made for it. If you don't need all the R5 offers, then the latest (last?) 5D will keep you happy for many years to come with those fine lenses you already own.
I would opt for the highest MP mirrorless camera you can afford. I shoot mostly landscapes and some animals-birds. Mirrorles gives you the tools to totally perfect your image prior to and during taking the photograph. High MP gives you the better resolution and the ability to crop more (very important with animal-bird shots). Check out the Canon USA factory refurbished site. They come with the same factory warranty as new with a reduced price. Most camera manufactures are devoting most of their R&D money towards Mirrorless. Go for the best you can afford. Used gives you more bang for your $$$
You already have a perfect 20MP pro-grade DSLR. You're wasting your money lusting for a new camera for your expressed shooting needs and fine selection of lenses. That EOS 6D will last easily another 5-years, probably 10. I don't know how I can put it more clearly: there is nothing inferior about this camera nor needing to be changed.

If you continue with the same subject interests theres really nothing thaz in need of updating. Your gear is already more advanced than reqired for your stated interests.
If youre just bored, maybe get an IR converted 5D2 or 6D body.

And if your GAS is a terminal case just get a 6DII, keep the one you have for a backup.
But be careful, GAS can become long term and add up to a lot of $$$$$.
I started in the DSLR world with a Sigma SD10, then added an SD14 + total of 8 lenses (still have the SD10 and 3 lenses). Then I moved to Canon with a 6D, added a 7DII and for years those plus Canon lenses was it.
I stopped getting rid of my old cameras, so I now have 6D, 5DIV, 7DII, 80D, 90D, R7 and two bridge cameras-Fuji HS10 and Sony RX10iv.

One step up would be to invest in a full frame camera body. The 80D is a great APSC. body. (Also a step up) with lots of great reviews. Check out B&H. KEH. and other sites for both new and used ones.

Yes I was aware of that, and noted that only the other version had legs.
So I just figgered I would wake up this version just to provoke a bit of chaos !
So far it has worked, at least slightly, as in usnret suggesting a "step up" to full frame for the OP.
Somebody hasta do this stuff.
;-)

The EF lenses are absolutely perfect for the mirrorless cameras Canon makes and unlike Nikon, are fully and seamlessly compatible with the Canon R cameras.
If doing landscape the R5 would be the obvious choice for FF right now. But I would wait if possible as the MII is likely coming soon.
If a APSC is desired the R7 is as good as you can get with very high resolution for landscapes but your wide angle will not be so wide as you are used to.
Your camera should be fine

I'm sorry but he CAN use his current lenses with the R5. He just needs to buy the adapter for them. That's what Im doing and very happily so.
