Good evening. Your photos of these tribesmen do justice to their way of life. The colors and textures of their dress your photos have captured very well. I like the straight photography you practice. It brings out the subject to my eye as if there myself.

Thank you so much. When you really love a subject it helps!

I think you did a great job with these, people photographer or not. I feel as if I know the people a little bit through your photos.

That is my goal, thanks!

Great pictures of the beautiful Maasai people you encountered in Kenya! Thanks for sharing! We spent a significant amount of time in the Amboseli area when I went to Kenya in 2017.

You know the beauty of the area. I was there in 2019 as well and it was so green. Unlike this time, it was dry and brown and unfortunately many dying animals due to the drought.

Excellent work! I visited Kenya in 2019, but my tour group did not spend a lot of time with the natives. We did go to a place where women did weaving, etc.

In Amboseli it was just myself and another couple. We had the whole village to ourselves and could walk and talke with them. Visit their home and really see day to day life. Our guide was a Maasai from Amboseli and he knew everyone and it was like a nice get together for him too! Unfortunately they talked a lot about their cows. My guide had lost about half his herd due to the drought. This village was suffering the same way. We bought items from them, as much as we could to help out financially, but there were only 3 of us, I wish we could have helped them more. It is times like this I wish I could win the lottery and help more.

Wonderful set, Beth. Especially loved the group photos and closeups of the beautiful bead work.

I was fascinated with the bead work! I did buy a little beaded lion as this trip to Kenya was full of lion sightings!

My first thought besides realizing these are very nice images is the beads. Do they make those themselves and where do they get the material with those colors or do they trade or buy the beads and then just make the items themselves. Either way very lovely.

They buy or trade for the beads and cloth. The little silver round disks on a chain you see are new in the past 15 years. How and when exactly they discovered them I don’t know, but they all use the exact same ones. It surprises me a little that there are not different shapes. I wish I had ask about that more. In fact I will ask a Maasai that I am friends with on Facebook.

Wonderful work. These photos are worthy of National Geographic Magazine. By the way, you are a people photographer. You are the only one who thinks you are not.

Thank you for the kind reply. The beads, well this makes sense but however they obtain them, they sure know how to make lovely things, and colors of the fabrics is just beautiful. They may live a simple lifestyle but they sure know how to dress up. You said this is their everyday dress ? makes me wonder if they dress up when visitors come.
I saw this is the Darien district in Panama. Feel free to share more pictures and stories of this wonderful trip you had.
New years blessings to you dear lady.
Bruce.
