An alternative to the RX100 as a 2nd camera to the RX10, look into getting a A6XXX camera that uses the same battery as the RX10m4. When I went to Norway several years ago, I took my RX10m4 and A6300. They use the same battery, so you can take just one charger and 1 or 2 extra batteries. I just took the standard 16-50 kit lens for the A6300.

Yes, I have the a6000 too. Probably just keep to one for this trip. Thanks.

Yes, I'm looking at that pocket size too. Thanks very much.

My DW gave me one for Christmas. Most amazing camera I've ever had. And, there have been a lot!

I think she's loved me for about 55 years. It makes no sense.

Remember to take extra batteries and charger for the RX10M4 with you.

I took the Sony 10IV and an external battery pack to Newfoundland in 2018 . Used a micro usb cord to connect to the camera. Power was never an issue. The charge on the Mophie battery lasted for my entire trip of six weeks.

Still use this combo....

I took Sony a7iii and 3 lenses to Iceland. Would like to travel much lighter for long European junket. Thinking of Sony rx10iv. Rather pricey but like the 600mm reach. Pros/Cons? Other suggestions? Has weather sealing, RAW/JPEG. 20mp 1" sensor. I do print but just for personal use...no gallery show or sales likely! Thanks. Diane

I have switched from Canon "L" gear to the RX10iv. This camera is quite different than anything I have used due I think to design features getting "the hang of it" was a challenge but now it is my go to camera. Be aware it will take some time to work through the differences. I'm not sure if it would be my choice over my a6300 and a couple (2) select zoom lenses. The RX10 is heavier than the a6300 and zooms but changing lenses is eliminated. Soooo many choices/considerations! Good luck..

The RX10iv is quite a bit bulkier than the a7iii. Possibly heavier, too, depending on lens choice on the a7iii. You may be carrying a bit less overall with the RX10 than the a7iii with three lenses, but the RX10 is a lot more in the hand while shooting. It's surprisingly large. Be sure you handle one before buying.

TRAVEL RIGHT, TRAVEL LITE.
That is my best advice, I only take two camera's when I go on vacations. I take a small pocket camera I put on my belt using a small pouch, this camera has a 24-720 mm Zeiss lens. The other camera is my Sony a9 with the 24-105 mm f4 lens attached. Plus a polarizer filter. That's it, anything more is too much, in fact, the last time my wife and I went to Venice Italy I only took my Pocket Sony XH99 with the 24-750 mm lens.
If you take too much, the equipment gets in your way and you will not enjoy the experience.
Below is a grab shot from our Venice trip.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

I went to Iceland 2 years ago with my Canon 5D IV and two high end lenses. Another person on our trip had the Sony rx10iv. She was getting shots that I was missing because I was constantly changing lenses to get the right shot. After the trip we shared photos and the quality of her photos, at least on the computer, were every bit as good as mine. I am sure mine were better if we compared the photos after they were enlarged but neither of us planned to do that. That got me to reconsider my photography needs as I am not a professional photographer and only use the camera for traveling. So, I made the leap and sold all my Canon gear and purchased the Sony rx10iv. I used it all last year on 5 different trips through Europe and Canada and was very glad I made the switch! No more backpack filled with camera gear. I also like that the size of the RX10IV body is similar to the size of my Canon 5DIV so it felt good in my hands. I would definitely recommend making the switch to the Sony RX10IV or one of the similar bridge cameras. I have a friend that has the Panasonic bridge camera and is happy with that.
Good luck and msg me if you have any specific questions about the camera.

Thanks for this report. Very helpful and convincing. I think the 10M4 will be my choice.

It’s fun to imagine getting creative pro shots in exotic place, but my reality is more like yours: enjoy the trip, make memories not just photos. Love the bride shot! Thanks for the reality check.

I’ve had the “IV” now for about 4-5 years and take it with me everywhere. Great travel camera. It’s versatile. You don’t have to stop to change lenses. You get more shots. Takes great pictures and with some of the latest noise reduction software you can get keepers up to 3200. Good luck.
