In the midst of a Christmas Bird Count (CBC) at Talbert Marsh in Huntington Beach, we were lucky to catch the following interaction when an Osprey attacked a perched Red-tailed Hawk. We've also been unusually lucky here is Southern California to be visited by a Snowy Owl...a real rarity. The first time I stopped in the residential neighborhood where it has been roosting during the day, it was being harried by a juvenile Cooper's Hawk. After watching it try to chase the owl away (unsuccessfully), the Cooper was itself banished by a mob of 6 crows, which paid only passing attention to the much larger owl. All were taken with a Nikon D500 using a Nikkor 200-500mm zoom, hand held. Happy New Year to all. jak

Thanks, Steved3504. Not sure how wise the bird can be in a Mediterranean climate when it's used to the far North, but it is a beautiful bird. jak
