This is funny. A friend sent me pictures of a few of us playing at the library fair yesterday. One of the pictures was an extreme crop - very noisy. When I tried to save it so I could use deNoise, it kept saving as the full-size picture. then I realized that he sent me a 1.4MB image, and I was seeing only a small portion of it. Topaz did a great job of de-noising. With Topaz working this well, I don't have to spend $49 for Luminar's DeNoise.

Just recently purchased Topaz deNoise and Iām really impressed with its ability to work on high noise, high ISO shots. š

Looks over cooked. Topaz can only do so much

Yeah, I could turn down the processing a bit. I think I moved the slider to 60. I'll play around with these before I post them. Removing serious noise is not going to result in a perfect image. This is deNoise probably from 2019. When I opened the program today, it told me that there is a new version available, but I would have to pay for it. The new version costs $80, but Luminar's costs $50.
EDIT: Looking online -
Topaz: "The most advanced"
DXO: "Ultimate AI technology"
ON1: "Cutting-edge AI technology"
I'm downloading the free trial of the new Topaz.
I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade from 2.2 to 3 for $80. Looking online, Topaz has stopped letting YouTubers offer a discount code for their products. They realized that getting more money from customers works out better for them. š¤£
I see that Gigapixel has something called Face Recovery. I clicked on that thinking it might be for facial surgeons.

I think it looks damn good considering what you started with (the faces in particular).
You just have to balance the use of ALL three sliders in Topaz Denoise A1,
1)Noise reduction,
2) image sharpening,
3) recovering detail.
If you learn to balance them, it wont look overcooked. If you overdue one of the sliders, you likely wont like the results.
Topaz Denoise AI is a great tool to have when you need it.
One example which I have shared here in UHH before.
High ISO and high megapixel sensor camera, usually a prescription for much apparent noise .
A Great White Egret bends its neck to clean its feathers on the Caribbean Island of Sint Maarten/St. Martin. 50mp Sony A1 camera, Sony 200-600mm lens, ISO 1600, 591mm, F6.3, 1/2000 sec. Topaz Denoise AI used to clean it up a bit. First the full frame, then a tight crop from the same image.
Click on download to see the best image quality here even with UHH compression.
Many top Pro Sports and Wildlife shooters swear by Topaz Denoise AI or DXO Pure Raw for quality noise reduction while retaining detail.
Cheers and best to you.
"I'm downloading the free trial of the new Topaz."
Also download the free trial of Topaz Photo AI. It combines AI Sharpen, AI Denoise and Gigapixel. Not fully equal to all three yet, but it is Topaz's stated long range goal is to get it there and stop development of the three individual products.

Toby, there are sliders for backing off the intensity of cooking; Julia Childs, Betty Crocker knew just how.
Topaz AI trio is very effective, I had a 2001 cropped JPEG photo from a 3.1mp camera;Topaz worked wonders.

Topaz has been rescuing a lot of my images, both from the past and contemporary.

Thanks. This isn't a major project, just something to post for the folks to see. Maybe I should lend his wife one of my cameras next year. : )
