In my humble opinion, it makes no sense to buy a lens with a different mount--whether that is Sony A-mount, Canon, or anything else. Plus the Sony A-mount has been obsolete for years.

True, the Sony A-mount camera and lenses are no longer manufactured.
But Sony did a nice thing, they produced the LAEA-5 adapter allowing Minolta AF lenses to work nicely on my Sony a1, and A-mount Sony lenses with the LAEA-5 adapter to work on my a9 or a1.
Sony did not have to manufacture the adapter as they make no money on older Minolta and Sony A-mount lenses, but it was nice of them to do so.
I like the color rendering of the Minolta glass.
I was playing around yesterday and used my Sony a1, Sony LAEA-5 adapter with the Minolta 50mm 2.8 macro and took an image of a Florida Spiny Orb Weaver Spider.
It's nice to still be able to use this outstanding Minolta AF glass on the latest Sony camera.
My favorite Minolta lens is the 200mm High Speen AF APO 2.8 lens, love the color and sharpness.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.
