Me, I think all apple products suck. I have a new pace maker and guess what, Yep an Apple eye phone with a password. So I took it to my cardiologist and gave it to him. He has been trying to get it fixed, and so Apple will have a fine problem because the cardiologist that is not being served and places patents at risks will get their face punched. He said this is an on going problem with Apple. I simply said that what's the point, just dump these clowns and go with another cell phone provider and let other cardiologist know what is up. Putting patents at risk is a great way to topple Apple and I see no down side to this loss of Apple.

Just the kind of response I’d expect from an ignorant Texan, condemn what you apparently can’t understand. Apple is the one company that actually protects your information instead of selling it.

What is it with Apple and passwords? Last night, it wouldn't accept my Apple ID on my M.1. Why do I even need an ID? I paid for this thing! It's mine, isn't it? After quite a while, I straightened out the ID. Then it wanted a password. No matter what I entered, it was "incorrect." It was going to send a text to my phone. Great. I had to find the phone, turn it on, and wait for it to boot. No text. Then it said it would send a code to my email. That took quite a while, but I received it and entered it. "Incorrect." It had sent me another code in the meantime. By then, Apple was as fed-up as I was, and it gave up on me. It said to try tomorrow - or I might have to wait several days. The arrogance! This is why I have more than one computer.

I’ve been thru that same scenario several times. I’m also an ignorant Texan. My ancestors settled in Virginia in 1650.

I haven't gone back to the M1 Air. I'll have to get a good night's sleep and have a good meal. 😁

I just wonder why it's asking for a P/W now when it didn't before. Oh, yeah - Apple. 🤣

Well since I’m the one that made the original PEBKAC comment it’s clear from your response that it sailed over your head.

The original comment was rather akin to the old, old bromide - “nut behind the wheel”, hardly requiring explanation for anyone!!!

Try resetting your AppleID without using an Apple device. It is impossible! A week ago I could not remember my Apple ID or password so began trying to recover them. I got the ID but the password was not available. Trying to regain it I indicated I did not have an Apple device to use. I did receive a message that I would get a text message or a phone call to my landline on a certain date at a time (to the second) for recovering my password. No call came through and of course I did not get text message because a text message will not go to a landline. Apple is really disgusting and frustrating.

It's rich, and that's all that matters.

"Jerry" Rich, yes but out of control and controlling. It should my choice if I want a password and what I want as the password. If it is a good one with my name in it or a bad one with nothing they can warn me but should not denie me.

Password and Apple ID. I hate nit when I can't use a previous password.

That's because they transferred all your problems to me.

Yes, its true ('It's no joke.' or 'Let me be very clear.') Apple has this list of people that need harassment, for one reason or the other, and they send problems to these people just for giggles.

'ALL AUTONOMY WILL BE LOST UNDER THE PREVARICATION OF SECURITY.'

You would think the act of buying a phone, computer, printer, automobile, camera, cultivator or a myriad of other items, designated you as the exclusive and rightful proprietor, but in today’s world, you will soon learn that is not even close to the truth of the matter. All at the thralldom of security and service.

BACK IN THE DAY Apples could have multiple users in a business location.
Or at home.
They were also rare enough they could be stolen. Or "repurposed".
So you had/have a "machine" password, plus a separate one per user.
Nowadays I put them in the text of an email I send myself.
I have an iPod my kid "borrowed". then his girlfriend got it: she added a sticker and a password.
I got it back- some of the sticker and the (unknown) password seem permanent.
