What is it with Apple and passwords? Last night, it wouldn't accept my Apple ID on my M.1. Why do I even need an ID? I paid for this thing! It's mine, isn't it? After quite a while, I straightened out the ID. Then it wanted a password. No matter what I entered, it was "incorrect." It was going to send a text to my phone. Great. I had to find the phone, turn it on, and wait for it to boot. No text. Then it said it would send a code to my email. That took quite a while, but I received it and entered it. "Incorrect." It had sent me another code in the meantime. By then, Apple was as fed-up as I was, and it gave up on me. It said to try tomorrow - or I might have to wait several days. The arrogance! This is why I have more than one computer.

One of the reasons I won't have anything to do with Apple!
I've somewhat gotten used to the "we'll send a code to your phone (or email)" routine. I suppose it ensures the real person is logging in but it is rather annoying especially if I've forgotten where I put my iPhone. What bothers me, is that after going through their routines and leaving the site, I get a half dozen ominous messages on my phone, tablet and computer warning me "someone logged in to your account." I panic for a moment and the remember, "Oh yeah; it was me."
Apple passwords are driving me away from Apple. In the last few months my password failed several times. Two or three of the times I had an Apple Sr Tech. help me rest a NEW word ( can't use an old one, can't use your name can't?). I feel the rules that Apple have should or could be suggestions for safety but, not that I can't do what I wasn't of a password.

No issues with Apple since 1993. Currently using a 24” M1.
I heard about this but I thought it was computer myth.

There's a direct connection, keyboard to computer. The chair is on a spur line and has no real connection with anything - except maybe the floor and someone's trouser seat! That someone, however, does have a connection to the keyboard.

I’m not surprised you missed the point.
I have been using a MacBook Pro since 2017 and have not had a password problem. Sometime depending on application access it will either want the password from Apple ID or the Adminstrators password. it will take me a few seconds after the failed password message to realize which one it is they are wanting. for the most part I have the finger print option activated on the mack.
I just recently updated to the new operating system Ventura and currently going through the class offered at iPhone life which is a subscription based to get the classes.

Sounds to me like a PEBKAC issue.
In my experience, it is PEBCAK (problem exists between chair and keyboard).
Have fun if you decide to go to Android, Apple will still only send that kind of stuff to the phone you no longer use...
Loyal customers seem to have few problems, but if you leave the walled garden and it's not pretty.

Well since I’m the one that made the original PEBKAC comment it’s clear from your response that it sailed over your head.

That's why you make your password "incorrect" and then the first time it claims it is wrong it is reminding you what is right.
Jerry p/words and very simple just use the number of people in your family followed by id10ts, this will soak in less that a hour.

Me, I think all apple products suck. I have a new pace maker and guess what, Yep an Apple eye phone with a password. So I took it to my cardiologist and gave it to him. He has been trying to get it fixed, and so Apple will have a fine problem because the cardiologist that is not being served and places patents at risks will get their face punched. He said this is an on going problem with Apple. I simply said that what's the point, just dump these clowns and go with another cell phone provider and let other cardiologist know what is up. Putting patents at risk is a great way to topple Apple and I see no down side to this loss of Apple.
