Good afternoon to all !

My daughter is now playing U15 volleyball. I've offered myself for video and photography. Any suggestions regarding setup and lens that I should use or avoid.

Here's what I was thinking of using:
D500 (photo) and D5600 (video on a tripod)
70-200mm 2.8
50 mm 1.8
18-70 3.5 - 4.5

Shooting Raw and manual mode

Regards

Éric

Well, here is the lens you should be using - https://www.ebay.com/itm/284779935078?hash=item424e34f566:g:qwEAAOSwTxBiYont&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoJv8pCiiI3x3UnLYBugppo8asKbNbkqbu2Ew71IfsNXK7vi6UYXBnGYrBqYta6gc0hzj%2FBFCTXkWRj6I2%2B7QSbaqHBWUWznleG1PwhR74jqhWaV2HdkaHmbi6Jr9Ipi5tNobJrOJVk9WWWsusgoo07tEWpMbZ%2FoHHsNBVgfbQSuZMG2UVnX4VYfLMAR7oN%2Bap5Gnxm2tehFbNDgXdloJm8E%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6bb-omYYQ

This is a very scarce and desirable lens - a GREAT lens - I have and use one. Much smaller/lighter than full frame 70-200's ......

"... The best shots were the girls emotional responses to what occurred before or after each point. You will learn the girls personalities as the season progresses..." This has also been my experience shooting girls league soccer... Thus bears witness to "Beauty is in the eyes of the checkbook holder".

If you are focused on impressing your fellow sports photographers then by all means go for the amazing action shots however if you are looking to generate a revenue stream maybe see the action on the court or pitch through the lens of the young ladies parent's eyes... All the agony and ecstasy latent within the competition is so very precious indeed.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful experience here Gary, it is truly appreciated.
All the best on your photographic journey.
