My wife and I gave up the wedding business, so my photography is now down to a couple of jobs a year, if that, for friends. I would like to find a good simple editing program for the least amount of money. I gave up Photoshop and Lightroom. Any suggestions?

Did an editor come with your camera?
Elements?
Photo Impact Pro?

If on PC/Win it includes Photos, free and easy to use.

We don't know anything about the extent of your current requirements. Since you are an ex LR/PS user it is hard to know what you mean by "a good simple editing program" and "the least amount of money" Are you still a raw shooter? How important is the quality of the raw conversions and output to you? Some raw programs, for example Lightroom, Capture 1 and DxO PhotoLab Elite, have superior raw conversions to others. Most software titles offer a free trial period without needing to purchase first or give charge card information.

SECONDED!
I have the original and am going to upgrade to version 2. They are running a special for $40.00 for Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, or Affinity Publisher, or get all 3 for $100.00. NOT A SUBSCRIPTION! If you’ve used Photoshop, you should have very little trouble transitioning to Affinity Photo.

Best deal around for a full blown editor.

If the Lightroom that you gave up is an older version and you haven't tried the latest version you may find that you like the new auto masking features that it has. On the other hand if you want the editor to do everything for you, try one of the AI editors.

If you used Photoshop for years, Photoshop Elements is an easy, inexpesive, transition. I used Potoshop almost exclusively from version 3 through CS4 upgrading ever other version. I never used most of what was available.

Once settled in Elements you can browse the web for some free stuff that will fill in some gaps.

Enjoy your new freedom from work photography. Now it's all about fun.

The short term "black friday" price for Photoshop Elements is $60 direct from Adobe. It comes with a 30 day satisfaction, full refund guarantee. The usual price is $100.

A lot of people have never heard of FastStone...I've been using it for many years now. It's the best viewer/editor I've ever seen and used and it's Free.!!
All backgrounds, colours, text, etc, etc, are all adjustable via the Settings Menu. This pic shows how I have mine set...

FastStone calls itself a viewer. Can it do real 'editing' or just minor touch-ups. As a long time user I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks.
