In the 70s I drove up to Modesto from the LA area to visit and go fishing a few times. The new Don Pedro Dam was just filling up, and you could still see the old dam in the clear water. In one place, our boat even scrapped on a railing on top of the old dam. And now when the lake is full the old dam is 250 feet down.

The Melones dam was that way for me as well. I used to photograph and birdwatch in what is now a couple of hundred feet of water. Whole town is under there somewhere. LOL
