Wow!! Those images of the grist mill are perhaps the best images I have seen on UHH. I very rarely comment on other folks images but yours were spectacular. Just stunning. Would you mind telling me what camera you used and did you use a neutral density filter. I assume a tripod was in the mix.
I am humbled by your generous comment, rlovaglio, as I am still an amateur enthusiast. I shoot full frame with the Nikon D750/24-85mm lens combo and a D610/20mm combo backup. Because the cloud cover was softening the light, I did not use an ND filter, though I wish I had gone silkier on the water in #1 and #6. And yes, I definitely used a tripod. I do shoot in RAW and use Lightroom to process.
Thanks so much, Kathy! The Glade Creek Grist Mill is deservedly a prime destination in WV. We were lucky that the flow of visitors was moderate. But there's an aside: there was a little 'blue' man standing with his tripod setup on the rock nearest the mill. He lingered there--in everyone else's shot--for half an hour! I so wanted to mention photographer's etiquette when I passed him on my way out, after giving up waiting on him to move off the rock. I hate having to clone distractions out, lol.
Thanks so much, Kathy! The Glade Creek Grist Mill... (show quote)
Yes, it happens. I get tired waiting for them and wonder just how valuable that image might be!
