Excellent back road set and barns found along the way.

Beautiful samples of what you see on "Country Roads". Thanks! 👍

Yep, but some country roads allow you to pull over easier than others, lol! Tried to do a barn trail in Madison County near home and just about every old barn was up against the curve in the road with no shoulders anywhere in sight.

Love the memory evoked by the Mail Pouch barn. Reminded me of living in Kentucky in the early ‘50s when dad would drive us around on Sunday afternoons in his Crosley. (I was much smaller then.)

Your mention of the Crosley made me look it up. It was described as ahead of its time, an early John Deere Gator of sorts as a run-about! Also, the lowest priced car in America. Who knew?!

A beautiful area of the state.

I agree, Barbara, I loved the open vistas of the rolling hills. Certainly an area steeped in tradition.

Minard's Spaghetti Inn in Clarksburg, WV. Interesting story of 2 brothers who married 2 sisters and began a restaurant that has served the community for going on 100 years. Best lasagna in the history of cooking indoors.

Wow, wish I'd known about Minard's...would have loved lasagna! Restaurants were scarce in Monroe County and even in Fayette and Nicholas counties there were limited offerings. Sounds like it would have worth expanding our area of exploration.

Beautiful photos!! I especially like the covered bridge!!

I'm still having a good time on your trip.

Dodie

Thanks, Dodie! One of the nicest aspects of this kind of backroads travel is not having crowds of people to work around. It was lovely having the freedom to compose from whatever vantage point worked best.

Nice tour, I really like the mail pouch barn.

Thank you, Dan--glad you are enjoying the WV countryside. I had seen older pictures of the MP barn and it was quite a looker in its day! If I could have snuck in, I would have closed the loft door and hidden the 'for sale' sign, lol!!
