He ask a legitimate question. I'll ask it again. Why would someone sell the almost latest version of a camera? Now I'll answer the question. Because 1 they don't like it. 2 it doesn't suit their needs. 3 It didn't make they a better photographer 4 They need the money for the next latest camera. 5 They decided to switch brands. See CHG. Its called giving an answer to a question. Not asking another question. Lmao. No offense meant I usually laugh at you. I must be having a rough day.

You've done a pretty fair job of laying out the main points of their buyer's remorse.....rough day or not.

I believe some just look for reasons to start new threads.

Such as our eternal Number One thread starter ... no need to name the name.

Good one, cost more and get less.
Perhaps that is true.

Actually you get a whole lot more - except for the "Clunk click every trip"

The only two (aka trend) I've noted are both from user 'Saycheeze' that includes a not very logical explanation:

Totally illogical in my books. In fact it sounds kinda fishy to me in some ways. Why would any sane person purchase 2 topline cameras and then shortly after toss them aside. Why not buy one to try it out or get a rental. This character must have money to burn. If I were to purchase that same outfit it wold cost me $15,000. That my friends is more than half my total income for a whole year!! Even one of those listed cameras are but a dream to me. Jeez, as a 80 year old on a fixed income even to buy but one of the “R” cameras is beyond my capabilities at the moment, but perhaps by scraping and saving by the time I get to be 90 it may be possible (that’s the time period it took me to get my present outfit, a 90D and a 100-400 tele). Perhaps it’s just a pang of jealousy on my part that a person can spend that amount on anything but I still cannot fathom this “saycheeze”$ inability in my mind to think!!!

It very well may be to get a camera that more fits their needs. I sold my Canon RP so I could buy a Canon R and I am happy with it. I sold my Canon M 50 so I could buy a Canon R 10 and I am happy with that too. I am bad about doing that sort of thing and have always been. I'm sure that I am not the only one who trades around.

My guess is that they simply do not like it and do not want to continue keeping it around.

As I have grown older I have become much the same way. If I buy an item, whether it be an article of clothing, a camera, or most anything else and it is not what I expected or is uncomfortable to use or wear, I get rid of it. I either sell it or donate it in the case of small value items.

Why should one suffer and carry on with an item that you dislike using? It is only going to take up space and in the case of a camera, continue to lose value. I am a believer in the sunk costs theory. Unless you can return it for a refund within the allotted time, you will almost never get back the money invested in an item. So just sell it for what you can and move forward. I will not hang on to something forever just because I cannot get ALL my money back.

No, I'm not wanting to criticize R cameras. I'm just curious why the owners have put the up for sale, so quickly?

Upgrading??? Sell the midrange and getting the top end?

I never ask why someone is selling something. If the item is awful, he's not going to tell me.

Let me answer that question. Having not seen the ads, I can use an educated guess to answer this question. Because most camera makers release the new models in a certain order to entice buyers to purchase the latest and greatest models. For instance, Canon releases the R and the RP models. But in reality, those were just entry level mirrorless cameras. Then they release the R6 and R5. These are much improved models over the R & RP. You see where this is going now?. So then they release the R3 and I'd bet soon there will be an R1.

Keep in mind the average UHH is of retirement age, in all sorts of financial situations, some where buying two top line cameras is no matter at all. A casual scan of member equipment profiles shows this situation many times repeated.

Maybe they are upgrading from the R to R5 or something. Or maybe they are unhappy with Canon shutting down 3rd party RF lenses.

Canon can't make RF lenses fast enough. No one is crying about 4-tier knock-off nonsense, except our resident Sony troll who sees Canon asserting their global #1 market dominance.

Spouse said "You spent HOW MUCH?".

If a camera is hard to carry, I prefer W I D E neck straps and wrist straps.

If the camera eats batteries, I buy a few more.

Before my lovely wife asks me, “HOW MUCH?” I tell her I saved all my change in a jar. (Can someone help me carry this 55 gallon barrel to the bank?)

Right now I am happy with my 5D Mark IV. The R3 and the Z9 look good but I wait right now. I don’t need the latest and greatest only to be disappointed.
