If the design will allow, put a screw-in bolt on the top (with a rubber washer?), you have a monopod....
most likely would have to trim the bolt part to about 1/4 inch.
(They might be called hanger bolts.)

My hiking stick is a monopod that I made a wood nob that screws into the top.

That is a fine looking hiking stick, I have many different ones. But none as cool as that one. We have several acres of forest and many dead trees, I find the sticks that are of a comfortable diameter and length and take them home to finish drying. Then debark and and weather preserve them.

Very good, MT, I use mine just to be able to walk a short distance, otherwise it's a wheelchair for me.

i always take my trusty hiking stick with me when going out on an adventure.

So far, MT, I was OK without extra support, and, frankly, I haven’t had to walk in wild terrain areas...I do like your device and hope it never lets you down!

MerryTexan, I carry a mono-pod without a head as my walking stick when I do my walkabouts with my camera in hand. It collapses, making it convenient to bring along, and I keep it in the car.

I use it to push weeds and brush out of my way. It's great for moving those pesky thorny vines that like to grab my legs. It's handy for clearing leaves when I'm looking for small specimens to shoot. I even used it to prod and encourage a snake (harmless) to "seek its fortune elsewhere".

I've found the best part of walking with one is that I can use it to steady my camera, not mount it on it. I place my left hand on it at an elevation of the subject, like a wildflower, and then I rest the camera against the hand holding the "walking stick". I can lean the stick forward or back to help focus while the camera rests against my hand and the stick.
MerryTexan, I carry a mono-pod without a head as m... (show quote)

Thank you for the tips and suggestions, sippy!

A beauty, MT! I use a Trek hiking pole. On trips alone up the mountains, I will use two.

Thank you mike. If I was hiking in the mountains I would definitely use trek poles.
