With the price of Topaz Photo AI on sale, I thought I would try it out. Three days later, I have yet to be able to use it. The symptom is always the same, it displays a two-line progress screen that says:

Loading …
Reading Metadata

That is all it ever does.

• I have tried loading in JPGs, TIFFs, and raw files from 3 different supported cameras and 1 scanner. No help.
• I have uninstalled the app, cleaned up the stray files left behind by the UI, deleted the old download, deleted temp folders, emptied the trash folder, downloaded and installed a fresh copy of Topaz, all to no avail.
• Since it never successfully reads the Metadata I checked for different versions of Exiftool.exe. There were three versions, no two with matching lengths, I got rid of the two that were not in the Topaz folder. The result – the same.

I am sure that the above is just a representative sample, but this ordeal has used up so many brain cells that can’t remember everything I did. And yes, I have contacted Topaz Support. They said that the second bullet (above) would solve the problem, so I tried it for a third or fourth time.

The only other thing I can think of is the there might be something in a DLL; however, that is something that is not in my skill set.

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I might solve this conundrum?

Configuration:

Ryzen 5 5600x, 6 cores, 32G,
3 TB SSD, 1TB HDD
GPU - AMD Radeon RX6700 XT, 12
O/S – Windows 10 (up to date)

Did you do a complete cleaning with something like CCleaner, including the registry?

I did use CCleaner to ferret out anything that contained the string "topaz".

Get in touch with them. I had a few problems over the years and they were extremely helpful.

In 4 years, I have never had a problem with Topaz: AI (new), DeNoise, Sharpen or Gigapixel. Yes, get in touch with them.

"I only use topaz denoise as the others I couldn’t get to download" I am in the same boat. I had a previous version of Denoise and trying to download the latest version simply upset everything to the point I could not use it, a very disappointing experience.
I still use the original version of Denoise.

For Sale prices of many including Topaz I refer you to my post:

TheShoe your computer is almost a duplicate of mine. To clear the loading problem, close out multi programs and reboot and try again. I had the same problem loading PSE-2023

I had an issue with Sharpen, operated for a while then quite. Tried several “reloads” to no avail. When it did work before it failed, was painfully slow. I do use “DeNoise” in my normal workflow and love it. Assuming an image needs sharpening, Photoshop does just fine. Sorry, no help here.

Are you using it as a standalone or as a filter in a raw operator like Photosghop .? i use it both ways never had a problem . I mainly use it in the current version of Photoshop . The filters are in the filter drawer of photoshop top row of Photoshop ,both Sharpen AI and Denoise AI . Gigapixel is in a different location in File drop down , Automate , Gigapixel . Also in your preferences Under Performance make sure you have checked the [Use Graphics processor] then click on Advanced settings make sure all boxes are checked ,Use open CL ..Not sure what Raw operator orv editing engine you are using .

I am a fan of Topaz. Each program has it quirks however. With experience you will quickly be able to work these programs to produce what is needed.
When I downloaded, and please forgive the lapse in memory, either the Sharpen or the DeNoise, I experienced a major slow down much as you described when working with an image- seemed to take forever until I noticed that there was another menu (drop down?) or off to the side that asked to download all of the options used for the program to work. A menu of sorts within the program's available tools within which to process.
Once that was done, the menu of programmed alternates on hand, the work of processing proceeded quickly.
Just a thought and hope this helps.

As for the problem if it is downloading the new source program to computer, my issue was the download capabilities of my service provider I found out. Again, hope this helps. If you can work out the bugs these programs work wonders where needed.
