In Sept, I sent in a renewal for my passport. The check was cashed immediately. Weeks later I still get "in processing" on the web site. I recently got an email response requesting I submit a new application! I checked my copy, and went over each section and can't find any errors. I called the "customer service" line and spoke to a representative, giving them all the info including the tracking number. She wouldn't help me and told me to submit a new application.

Has anyone experienced problems like this and how was it resolved?

thanks.

Govt employees are still using the pandemic as an excuse not to work. My local post office now closes for an hour in the middle of the day for “lunch”, citing “staffing problems “ from the pandemic.

The labor shortage is not a lie. I've seen it in local stores. People get a job, get Covid, and leave - maybe permanently. Kids going back to school got sick, and parents have to stay home with them.

Our post office has been closing for lunch since I can remember - my doctor's office, too.

Contact your state Representative and tell them what the problem is, You will be surprised at the service you will the get from the state department. The email should have explained why you needed to submit a new application.

Probably because they lost it.

For what it’s worth: maybe you’re being too quick to cite the “rudeness from the “customer service” person”. Sure, most of us have dealt with reps like that but you didn’t hear the conversation so you don’t know what either party’s attitude was. You might be right on target but you might be completely wrong. Just my 2 cents.

This is true, we weren't there so...

We also went through the USPS and the guy was very helpful and courteous but then, we mail a lot of alpaca socks and other products through that particular post office. :)

I renewed mine in late 2020, took 3 months to get and I was surprised. My GF applied for her first one this year in February..........stilll "in processing"! No idea when she might get it.

I wonder if it matters where you apply - online or post office.

Not sure about that Jerry but I can state that if you pay for the expedited service, that it works.

Something happened to #2 son's passport so he had to start over and we weren't sure if we would get it in time so we paid the extra sixty bucks for the quicker service.

We sent in three renewals and the "new one" at the same time and he received his almost two weeks sooner.
